Earth Day...

...is this Saturday.

Anyone have anything special planned?

I want to plant a tree, and pick up litter around my town

 

My family is planting a whole bunch of trees on our land.

 

Niiice I really want to plant an apple tree

 

I have been planning on going out and picking up litter all day. But due to my lack of independant transportation, I odn't know how possible that is... (I live about a 30 min ute drive from the local town). There really isn't much/any litter around me though, so I don't know. I may just have to postpone my earth day celebration...

 

Really, if you think about it, it really shouldn't take a special day to get us to do this stuff... But it does help

 

Ive been thinking about doing that Adopt-a-Road thing (they provide a sign and safety vests and trashbags and stuff) on the road where I take my walks. Its a nice hilly area and pretty ... and its a shame but the freakin rednecks around here toss trash and beer bottles and stuff out.

But now Im thinking maybe I'll just go out and do it by myself tomorrow, or maybe get my sister to come along....

 

I'd like to have each of my kids plant a tree in honor of Earth Day. I tried to harvest some apple seeds over a month ago, had them in the fridge for 6 weeks like I supposed to, but I screwed up and didn't put them in peat moss while they were in the fridge, so they got mold all over them.

Anyway, if we don't do trees this year, we'll plant some perrenials.

 

I try to do what I can for the earth everyday, but I can't go out and walk around town everyday all day picking up trash, so yeah.

Nor can I plant a tree during the winter season where I live, because everything is frozen.

That's why I am using earth day to do the things that I CAN'T do everyday.

 

Hmmm.... heh, I'll probably screw it up too [the apple tree thing]. But I have other plans for trees and plants as well.

Last year we planted about 10, baby trees... but it was really difficult. Our ground is like cement, the soil is just like clay, so it's hard to dig as deep and as wide as you need to, to plant an already semi-grown tree....But I think I might do one.

We also have a wildflower patch in my front yard, that I think I might add to

 

True but I think of it as being Mother earth's birthday. Like you want to be kind to her all year, but do something EXTRA special for her on Earth Day.

Earth Day Party Man!!!

 

Actually, after alot of consideration, I have decided since I can't really leave home today for any earthday projects (I live about 30 minutes away form any civilization, and I have yet to get my liscense so I don't think I'm going anywhere...), I will do some projects for the area around my house. I have decided to make some birdhouses today and put them up to provide some habitat for my local eco-system. Maybe even some bird feeders too, but I will have to wait for a while to get seeds for them.

 

Glad I could make you laugh... Even if I DID forget the "n" on porno. That was a really bad typing day, I made a bazillion errors for some reason.

Sounds really cool! I would love to hear more about the workshop!

i would LOVE to go outside and go something for our earth, but it's pouring like woah! I do a lot on an everyday basis tho, which everyone should do.
