Everyone to their own I suppose, we all have to follow what we feel is right for us. But personally I think you're mad.

I'm going to be working to solve some of our environmental problems here in the United States...somehow that is more important than me travelling.

With three months you can see a lot, but, I agree with the others, not all those places. Also, the idea of 'doing' europe is a little insulting, hopping from one country to another and hardly seeing anything in many. Though I do sympathise with Americans to an extent, since the trip over is quite expensive and a big deal, being such a long haul + jet lag etc.

I think spending much less than a week in a country is pointless, as you'll be travelling for a lot of of your time. Travelling is tiring, not to mention expensive, time wasting, and not very environmentally friendly.

So, as you have to choose between places, I'd recommend going to places you don't know about. Discovering new things is fantastic and so much better than travelling to look at things you've heard about your whole life, say 'yeah, that's nice' and then going home again. You'll avoid doing the typical overated, overpriced things, and will have to do your research and decide what you should do for yourself.

I went on an exchange to the Czech Republic (my school found some really random excuse to do it), and it was FANtastic. We went on a day trip to Prague, but that was too touristy. Very pretty, but even worse than London for tourists, and just tramping around the place following people to the sites. Anyway, the vibe there was great, away from Prague.

Of the other major european cities I've been to, London, I live in and love, but if you go you'll probably end up doing things like going to Camden (WHY?!). Paris, I'm not a fan of. Copenhagen I love, cause you can just walk EVERYWHERE, just take a map and a guidebook and see where you end up.

Oslo ain't neccessarly expensive, but if you go to all the mainstream places it will be expensive.

I agree with Spacer, last summer me and my boyfriend went on Interrail for 3 weeks, we were planning to see Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Spain, Portugal and Maroc. But we didn't reach Portugal and Maroc, we were only for 1 or 2 days on one place. So 3 months isn't that much I guess.

But I suggest you should visit the Netherlands ofcourse (not only Amsterdam is great to visit, I live in the North (near Groningen) where is a lot to see too). Berlin I liked also (I liked Kreuzberg). Prague is a great city too, nice and cheap. In Szeget I heard is a great festival during the summer (you can probably find more on the internet), visit the Pusta, it's some kinda desert with horses (very hot there :p, take lots of water with ya). Greece I liked too, especially the islands, the smaller ones I liked, like Paros, Santorini etc. If you like lots of tourists visit France (I personally don't really like it.. same for Spain and Turkey). I visited London and Dublin too, wonderful but unfortunately I was like 16 or 17 back then so couldn't get in the pubs. I've heard stories about Romania and Bulgaria which weren't that good. Poland is really cheap also, been there when I was little so don't remember much, except for the bad food.. Denmark is very expensive.. Switzerland and Austria is wonderful landscape, lots of mountains, but can be cold in the mountains too. I visited more places but have said enough for now I think :p wanna know more, just ask :p
