As a Dam virgin hitting town for the first time on Queens Day, are there any helpful tips out there for visiting coffeeshops. For instance, are there any areas of the city that are less crowded than others on QD? Any particular coffeeshops that might be easier to get into than others due to location or festivities. Or any areas of town to stay away from due to excessive crowds? What about travel that night. I see there is a limited transportation schedule that day. Will the trains or the Night Bus be running back to Schipol late, late, late at night? Any useful QD tips would be more than appreciated. Any good get-togethers going on at any of the shops? Thanks & be cool.....
amsterdam will be the most crowded city in the netherlands on queensday. Not all areas will be packed......the red light district, dam square, museumplein, leidseplein, and vondelpark will be busy. RLD will be the mOST crowded for sure! If you want to avoid crowds, go to coffeeshops outside of these area's. Bluebird perhaps? There is a train that runs from Central Station to Schipcol airport that takes 20 minutes and costs a few euro's per person. Queensday will not affect it. These links below have lots of info for first timers.... http://www.hipforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121279 http://www.hipforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80513 http://www.hipforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=139406
