My parents made me go to church on Easter, even though I'm 23. I guess its cause they help me finacially (a little bit). I belive in God (Jah), but I'm not down with attending mass and listening to an insane preacher that thinks that he's closer to God than the rest of us, and that he knows the secrets of the world or something, and can make the world a better place, when in fact organized religion fuels many wars.

"Open up the doors of the church and let me out of here, too many people have died in the name of God, for me to hear"- CSNY "Winchester Cathedral

Did anyone else's patrents make them go to church on easter?

I think I might burst into flames if I went into a church. :p

Seriously though, when I was younger and my parents were married, they would force me to attend church. That stopped when I was around 14 years old.

hmm - I sometimes feel the urge to go to church just cos theres alot of people all there singing which none of the rest of society does much.If I'm wandering around the old world countryside in the uk and I find a hidden church in some field somwhere I'll usually go in just cos I love ancient atmospheres - ya know sorta mystical - and the history and art of these places but most modern churches make me vomit. If I pray - I pray to the elements.Infact mother nature is very sexy as it goes

Believe it or not I felt like that. My folks made me go to church while they stayed home and had Sunday breakfast. I hated being made to go to places but after awhile they didn't press it and I stopped going. When I finally went back it was because they asked me to attend. I love God Jesus and The Holy Spirit but I didn't like church Nuns or Priests. (Because I always felt out of place and unloved.) I felt just like that scene from the omen when I first went to the Methodist church I attend now. I could almost here the music and I felt so out of place. lol Iyt's still kind of hard because I believe that loving God Jesus and The Holy Spirit takes stuff that they just don't teach you in church. Sometimes a goodmorning to a person that's not the biggest tither in the world is a start.(In case I misspelled it I mean the 10% you give) Secondly, fellowship is important because people won't stay in a church where they feel like the Pastor and the parish don't want to have anything to do with them. Third there are alot of things that I just don't understand like. Why People paint God as a being that's full of love but then say he's jealous. They say there is a place in Heaven for you and that God forgives all your shortcomings but there is a chance you won't get there because you didn't do the right things. My least favorite is that God doesn't want you to suffer yet everytime there is a Hurricane, Tornado, or other Natural disaster then that's God's work. We should love him with all of our hearts but fear him. How can you love someone you're scared of and if God says that fear is a sin than why does man say to fear him and call it Christan worship? I say all this and I still believe in God. There are still something I need explaining but I don't feel like I'm in the right place to ask those questions. I may return to the Catholic faith oneday but for now I'll keep attending church. I know at least I'm communicated with God.

My mom's parents forced HER to go to church and she swore her child would never be exposed to that. My parents are both agnostic and we pretty much avoided any discussion of religion whatsoever.

if you are living under your parents roof, then you should go by their rules. I mean, if you are supported financially by your parents, you should listen to them, cuz they can break off ties just like that.

my parents dont care. IM 31, though. they were strict when I was younger, but i was living under their roof then. although, they arent as strict as my grandmother. she used to get upset with our whole family because we didnt attend mass at 7 am on a thursday because it was for the whole family....

I think at 23 he should be able to make adult choices we all should respect our parents at what ever age, but i think respect is speaking to them well and not treating the house like its a hotel, if he has his own beliefs it will only breed contempt them forcing theirs on to him, even if he hasn't its much better if he doesn't want to go that he doesn't.
where does it stop madcrappie, do you think your parents should dictate your religion, what job you do and who you should or shouldn't date for example, just because you live with them and they help you out with money.

if my parents forced me to go to church they'd regret it, i'm not about to change how i dress so the church would get me hippy clothes and penticle as well and at coffee afterwards i would be very verbal about my religious beliefs- i think the church wouldn't have me back.

I'm pagan, i wouldn't force my kids to be, I think religion is a personnal choice.
