I lost a little bit of respect for System of a Down.

    Their song "lonely day"

all throughout gradeschool, i was always taught not to say,"most loneliest". You are supposed to say either, "most lonely" or, "loneliest".

Now, i love that song, but it detracts from the integrity of it when they abuse one of the most basic rules of the english language.

You can call it Poetic License, but fuck that. It just makes them sound stupid.

    Such a lonely day
    And it’s mine
The most loneliest day of my life

    Such a lonely day
    Should be banned
    It’s a day that I can't stand

The most loneliest day of my life
The most loneliest day of my life

    Such a lonely day
    Shouldn’t exist
    It's a day that I’ll never miss

    Such a lonely day
    And it’s mine
The most loneliest day of my life

    And if you go,
    I wanna go with you
    And if you die,
    I wanna die with you
Take your hand and walk away

The most loneliest day of my life
The most loneliest day of my life
The most loneliest day of my life

    Such a lonely day
    And it’s mine
    It’s a day that I’m glad I survived

    haha okay....

sometimes you have to defy the "rules" of langauge to write well. Many great poets made their own little rules, and became well known and famous for it. Writing/music is an art, and sometimes rules don't apply. Think outside the box, you know?

Man, one song shouldn't decrease your respect for a band.

Now if they started getting all Snoop Dogg on us and making up their own words simply so they could rhyme with another, I'd kind of see where you were coming from.

Also I've caught a few punctuation and sentence function errors in your little speech there so are you really one to talk?

Uhhh, Shakespeare made up thousands of words and phrases in the english language. And like the other post said, some poets tend to bend the rules, completely aware that they're doing so.

It's kinda foolish of you to have lower disrespect of a band because of something so trite.

I love it when a writer can manage to pull off abstract writing, it's fresh. Have you ever read Deerhoof's lyrics? The singer's Japanese and writes in broken english, but it's great writing, despite how wrong you'd define it to be. So really...next time you have a though--just let it go...!!!

yeah, but it sounds stupid. i know about bending the rules. its called poetic license and thats not bad at all, but when you make it the main focus of the song and repeat it a million times it kinda burns into my brain.

    oh and a+o,
but nobody has good grammer as im is.

oh god, there are grammatical errors everywhere in music....... why would you lose respect for a band that has a grammatical error?? how dumb. it all starts with the blues, where their lyrics werent always grammatically correct, because they werent as learned..... and it has gone through rock n roll of course....... actually, I think its more poetic when you use words (or a combination) that you shouldnt

whats better?? wanna?? or want to??

would you rather have a song that says do ya wanna?? or would you like to have a song that says do you want to??

I mean, its obvious, is it not??

I guess you lost respect for pink floyd too. they had that song "we dont need NO education". that fucker is english, and he doesnt know that he cant have two negatives in the same sentence. it should be said, "we dont need any education"

Regardless those lyrics are horrible . and have little content . a 6 year old could come out with a better one in a school playground!.

If anything, the reason that song should make you lose respect in the band is for how God awful the lyrics are.

"It should be banned/This day I can't stand"

    phhh.

I like the song, and "most lonliest" fits the rhythm. just "lonliest" or "most lonely" i don't think would flow as well.

LOL this whole conversation is just silly.

And to Ghost, I agree to some extent... I haven't really lost respect for them, but I personally think their new albums Mesmerize and Hypnotize [Mesmerize ESPECIALLY] are really weak. I don't care for them much...

I'm always up for a band changing and tweaking their sound a little, but I'll stick to my OLD SoaD albums
