so my sound has been acting weird...when i'm hearing a song it'll play and then randomly stop and then play again, same with movies. the sound will just disappear for about a minute and then come back again...is there anything i should do (i already downloaded the drivers)

Sounds like a mechanical reading problem. Run a cleaning disk in the drive.

Do you get this same problem when listening to mp3's off your local drive or only when playing CD/DVD's cos it sounds like a drive problem and not a soundcard problem.

    Uninstall ~ Reinstall, maybe.?
Last final resort, system reload, drastic action but cures most problems.

And now, for something completely unexpected.

Is your sound card an ONBOARD or a card? Onboard means it is
    built in to your motherboard.
    It COULD matter.

try increasing the cached memory time - some programmes alter this
if you have a lot of memory - bump it up to 30 - 60 seconds
its in the options settings of the player

if ur hearing the song online, it's quite normal. if not, make sure u've got no virus. check yer CPU usage. while playing mp3, the cpu usage should below 20% (P4, 2G).

final resort: reinstall yer operating system. if u still have the problem, it's highly likely yer sound card is broken
