who is your favorite instrumentalist?

Hey guys-


Just wondering if anyone out here has a favorite instrumentalist. Personaly I love John Williams(Back to the Future, Star Wars, Jurrasic Park). This guy's string arrangements totally blow my mind and put me into the "mellowed" out land.

 

Ravi Shankar and Geinoh Yamashirogumi. Both are amazing.

 

Liquid Tension Experiment, Dream Theater (when there isn't singing), and Planet x. Can't really think of any more right now, I'll post back later.

 

umm... I really like Booker T and the Mg's. They are'nt one person, but they're all instrumental. Yann Tiersen is good too, french. I like alot of techno that is mostly instrumental like Amon Tobin, Wagon Christ, BoC and Lemon Jelly. I know most people don't know about him, but Terry Riley made alot of instrumental stuff using tape loops in the sixties, really wild stuff. I love instrumentals, almost to the point where I despise lyrics in most songs. Some bands like Devo and Stereolab can really blend the lyrics and music together good though.
