Last year at Earthfest, I had a booth for an organization I am involved with (University of Toledo Vegetarians) and there was a guy who stopped at my booth...and questioned me like crazy about my choices to be a vegetarian. I convinced him to take some literature and he eventually did. There were a lot of people that did the same thing, so he didn't stick in my mind. But today was Earthfest at the University and a guy came up to my table asking if I remembered him. I said no, but as he talked, it occured to me that it was the guy who took a bunch of literature and gave me a hard time. Apparently, he became a vegetarian after reading the literature I gave him and doing some research on his own. He's even going to be opening a vegetarian/organic food cafe with a professor at the University. Telling me, if it wasn't for stopping by my booth and talking to me, he wouldn't have gotten so involved and most likely would not have become a vegetarian...he even THANKED ME for opening his eyes! So for those of you who think you CAN'T make a difference, believe me, you can! Even if it is only one person!
People talking to each other and comming together is more important than why they come together. An omnivore joining with the vegetarians. A Bahai joining with the stoners. The joining is the important thing. Live lightly together.
ignore the ever-more-mature troll comments stuff like this is awesome. My friend went vegan and he said I made him think about it. He made the decision for himself and I didn't push him. I moved away and then saw him! He had lost weight and looked great and happy and healthy! It feels good ot know you had something to do with such a life change!
Maybe you should read up on the envornmental and health impacts of meat before you say such a statement. Bit of a stretch? Not at all.
I had to make a PowerPoint Presentation for my Computer class, so I chose Vegetarianism. After I showed it, 3 of my friends went vegan.
Getting people to go Veg is one of the easiest ways to make a difference. It's so easy because once people become truely educated on the subject a large amount of those people are at least going to try to go veggie. I've shown a lot of my friends stuff on vegetarianism and 2 have been vegetarians for years now and nearly every one tried to do it, including my mom for about a year. You should Be Proud of yourselves!!!! It is Changing the world.
I am very happy to be vegan and I know what I am doing is making a difference. It has made a very big personal change for me. I really do not know what else I would be passionate about if it weren't for vegetarianism and animals. I guess some people are not passionate about anything. I think the majority of the world will be veg in a few hundred years. It just makes more sense (ethically/health-wise/food distribution-wise, etc)
