For anyone who's ever seen waking life, in my opinion the best movie i've ever seen, besides halfbaked. Anyways, the movie got me thinking, what if we are all dreaming right now, or we are in that last six minutes when the brain is awake but u are dead and reliving your life or just having a flashback. So then u never know, u could be in like a coma right now or your asleep and then you may just wake up and forget about this lucid dream which was your life for a night.
In 1965 my Grandfather had a tumor in his brain that sent him into a coma. While he was in the coma, surgery was performed. He was in a coma for just over 2 weeks. In 2002, the tumor returned and he died due to complications with the size of the tumor, the surgery performed and his age. I was in the UK at the time and I had the opportunity to talk to him on the phone 3 days before he went in for surgery for the second time to remove the tumor. He told me that when he was in the coma in 1965, he lived a totally different life than the one he is experiencing now. He explained to me that he had a family and was a minister living in Norwich, England. My Grandfather told me that he had never been to England and wished that he could have come to see me. He went on to tell me about his wife, kids and life as a minister in England. He also described certain landmarks and also described the horse drawn cart that he used to carry his family about. At the end of his description of the life he had while he was in a coma, he told me that he had lived many years in this life and was saddened when he gained consciousness from the coma. He became withdrawn as he missed the family that he had in the coma. He felt that the time that he was experiencing was as real as what we percieve time as in the awake state. He eventually convinced himself that it was just a very long dream and rebuilt his emotional life with his family in reality. Or......what we think is reality. True Story!
That's exactly what im talking about, and i believe you. because what would be stopping that from happening? nobody really knows anything anyways. lol. The truth so i believe.
Waking life is too fucked up. We watched it in philosophy and I think I was on something and the cartoons were fucking with my mind.
that movies sounds awesome i used to think this alot what if all of this is an elaborate dream...what if what we call reality is just a dream?
I've seen it a bunch of times and I plan to watch it some more. Each frame has a new interesting idea in which to ponder. The frame that struck me I think the most when I 1st watched the film, was the one about the concept of words being "dead." The example of love was perfect. I've looked at language/communication/words very diff. since then! If ur going to watch the movie and end up liking it, take time to watch it over and over. Thats the only way I think u'll get true understanding from it. It is amazing. And I still don't understand all the topics covered in the movie. But its all about watching it repeatedly, discussing it with others and enjoying the possibility that some of what the movie discusses could be true. Also watch it in different states of mind. Like stoned vs. sober that type of thing! HAVE SOME POPCORN AND ENJOY!
I was watching "Inside the Actor's Studio" and they had this one actress on (forgot her name, damnit) and she was telling the story of one of her friends who was in the hospital dying of AIDS. She was by his side as he slipped in and out of conciousness. One day, he woke up and gasped. He said, "Oh my god" and she asked him what the matter was and he said, "It's all about love..." and then he died!! Isn't that crazy? Ahhhh!! The Beatles were right!
I ve seeen it a couple of times. I loved the concepts and stuff. It makes you think in new perspectives. I gotta go buy it for myself now.
