i'm having this little fight with a friend about smoking stems. she tells me that she gets high off smoking the stems. i told her that there is no thc in stems and that smoking won't give you anything but a head ache. i told her thats shes probably just convincing herself that she is high. can anyone help with this situation since she won't listen to me.

 

lol the only thing i do with stems are suck on them when im bored but i dont think you can high from smoking stems, but i have heard that you can make tea from it and i guess it gives you a little buzz...or its just for the taste

i've heard that before many a time so i guess its plausible but i have no evidence or science to back it up
however, the stems are completely okay to smoke, its just they're kindof a waste considering they have minimal thc content as compared to the rest of the plant
i personally choose to leave the stems in, it makes the bowls last longer and they cant hurt
stems = okay seeds = bad

 

but to answer the original question yes you could technically get high off smoking stems, but the likelihood that your friend is is low considering youd pry have to smoke a million bowls of them before youd get high

 

stems won't get ya high.

they do have a tiny itsy bitsy amount of thc though.

 

as far as I know, the only THC on stems is what has fallen off of the buds and stuck to the stems. So I guess you could throw them in if you were cooking pot to really get the most bang for your buck, but to just smoke a few stems prolly wont get you very high, if high at all.

thanks for the replies. i tried telling her that you can't get high off the stems. i'm pretty sure that they contain no thc. she swore, however, that she did it and got high. so thanks for all the help.

 

um i was down to the last crumbs in my weed jar the other night which means all i had left were stems and small bits of the nugs that once were. well i packed a bowl (full of mostly stems and a couple pieces of actual weed) in my bong and while it burned a bit, i still got pretty high. i haven't smoked seeds yet and i don't plan on it because i save mine, but if i got high, the stems must have had THC in them

 

You MOST DEFINATLY CAN get high off stems. I am living proof. I keep my stems as a backup-backup-stash. And they do carry THC. You have to smoke more than you would bud, but yes it does work.

Same reason you can make hash and tea out of them.

 

Yeah my buddy has over half an ounce of stems right now and he's gonna make some hash out of it. I have also gotten high off of just smokin stems so that I know it does work.

 

You can definatly get high from stems, especially if there is alittle weed left on them, anybody that says you cant get high from them is only assuming, they have never tried it.

YOU CAN GET HIGH FROM SMOKING STEMS

the fact that you have to smoke a decent amount to get a decent stone is irrelevant when youre talking about whether something can or cant happen.

obiovulsy, stems that have not been treated well, and have been dumped around and touched a lot are even harder to get stoned off, but i mean weed that has been left in alchohol and then dried also wont get you nearly as stoned as fresh, cured, well treated weed.

 

Stems are wood.

Any THC is on the outside.
So if you're gonna smoke them, scape them and throw the wood part away, smoke the scrapings.
Or, just grow your own--like me--you'll never run out.

yeah, thanks bill and everyone else. i knew it was posted on here a million times before but i was on here when it started. i figured there would still be a some kieff on the stems, but i didn't think it would be enough to get you high unless you smoked alot of stems. i'm proven wrong. sorry for posting this thread again.

well.. you do have to smoke a lot of stems lol but its not like a kilo. as ranger implicitly said, if youre gonna smoke stems, youre an idiot not to scrape the skins off and just smoke that, since its the only part that is gonna get you high

 

man ive made rad golden oil with stems of prime buds, they do have trichomes sometimes...small yield but amazing oil cuz its wood so theres almost nothing but the thc to be extracted

 

who gives a shit if you dont think you can get high off of stems dont smoke em but dont call someone a dumbass for smoking them i hate the dumb fuckers at my school who rag on people for smoking stems
