I got a labret piercing about 4 weeks ago and its been fine but today I noticed that on the inside there's a small white-red "ball" growing near the hole and I've red that this is normal and it should go away soon but I've been wondering what that is?

Is it okay? Im currently unable to go see a piercer because where I live there's not much of a chance to see a piercer but I am seeing a doctor on thursday and I thought about asking him to take a look at the piercing.
    Anyone else had this happen?

that happend to me but on my nose... i thought it would go away but it just got bigger and bigger... it went away when i took it out... it looked really nasty. i say give it a couple more days, wash only with disinfecting soap and water... dont put antibiotic creams or anything like that cause i think that made mine worse.
have you thought maybe its just a pimple??
well good luck with that... hope you don't have to take it out cause that sucks... i had to take my labret out for other reasons but i missed it alot after ... then i just got it again hehe

Mine did that. I just used hot salt water and held it on there about 10 minutes 2-3 times a day and it went away in about a week. It's probably just a small infection or something of the sorts.

I didn't have this happen to me, but I have heard about this before. When you go to the doctor, you might ask, but do remember that a professional piercer would probably know more than a doctor about something like that. Anyway, just do the salt water, and cleanse it properly. Piercings take a lot of TLC, but they are worth it. By the way, congrats on the new piercing!

I went to the doctor (well for other reasons..snowboard accident and had to get a check up) and got the doc to take a look at the piercing too and he just said that its nothing serious and just clean it and it'll go away. He also gave me some cleaning stuff and now I've been cleaning it and I'm thinking that it'll go away in about a week..

what did the dr give you? a dr gave me peroxil (sp?) once. the active ingredient was peroxide, definitely not good for healing piercings. just made things worse. however, if he gave you biotene or tech2000, then thats good stuff.

That happened with me to my bellybutton a few months after it was pierced. I just used the hot-water-and-lots-of-sea-salt thing 2 or 3 times day every day, and after quite a while (maybe a month or two?) it eventually cleared up. I *would* recommend seeing the piercer if it's possible, just to be safe, but I wouldn't be too, too worried!

Yeh I had a small white thingie similar to what you described shortly after I had my nose pierced. My mum said it looked like a spot or pimple and it turned out to be just that. I can't remember whether I popped it or not, but I just went on with the cleansing regime and the piercing is fine. I still have it about eight years later, so hopefully yours will survive too.

I got this with my ears and nose. It's just your body reacting to something being there that ususally isn't. It goes away after a while. It took my ears a couple years....don't remember how long with my nose, but it wasn't that long....

Its different for everyone, don't worry too much if you're taking total care of it and such.. My lip didn't heal for a long time, my body just doesn't want piercings, seriously. I took complete care of it too, and its happened with other piercings also. Everyone's bodies are different..
But you should probably go see your piercer, just to be safe.

This happened with mine too, it cleared up by itself.
As for healing time. Mine only took like a month maybe. It will heal when it heals :)
