This poem is for my Uncle Willis who was killed
in a drunk driving accident. He tried to stop his friend from
driving home, but instead he went with him thinking he would
get him to pull over. Well thats definately not what happened
that day of September the 1st. Its been years since it
occurred, and since I wrote this poem, but I thought it
would make me feel better to share it with somebody.

This is for you uncle Willis

"The good souls always die young, before the world can taint them."

    Everyone cried that September day,
Sorrow had befallen in the most horrible way.

That September 1st he had died on the street,
A fifteen year old girl lay dead on the seat.

As he painfully lay there dying with a glazed stare,
The drunk driver remained breathing with insincere care.

All of my life I have been told that "you need to forgive",
But why did he die and the driver still live!!?

Life is not fair when the killers can win,
For all that they get is their guilt and the sin.

I see him lay there still as he slowly dies,
Whispering help to the heavens as he sofly cries.

He thinks of his parents so loving and kind,
How hurt they will be when his body they find.

All that he wanted was the keys to the car,
But his friend insisted it wasn't that far.

Not only one person died that day,
Two more in total were on their way.

A mother and child crushed by a van,
Then Willis Andrews a wonderful man.

In my heart I will hopefully forgive the guy,
Who stole my uncle and made us all cry.

    I shouldn't make a promise that I cannot fulfill,
Until he repays the families of those he did kill.

I am not really a poet, so sorry if it isn't some great work.

I just wanted to share him with somebody.

it may not be the best poetry i have ever read but it certainly contains just as much emotion and feeling as any of the great pieces.Sometimes it is better to release your anger and sadness on paper instead of other people.

P.S.when my friend died i wrote this and i haven't shared it with anyone till now-
His death was a part of my life,

And my life was a part of his death.

His name is crossed out in my little black book,

But his face is still written on my memory.

He hadn’t made the most of his life,

And I couldn’t make anything of his death.

Everyday I cry one more tear,

As I watch more and more of him disappear.

You're so right with that point. Expressing the emotions you sometimes don't know how to express is very difficult. I pulled that old poem out of my book and when I read it I cried, I don't know why it took me such a long time but I finally cried 3 years later. Your poem was pretty much sending me the same way as well. I think I shed a tear at the final line of your piece. Its beautiful and full of a lot of emotion. I think some of the best pieces are the pieces that are filled with the composer not nice word play or couplets or whatever the hell makes a outstanding poem.

Thank you very much it feels good to share it with somebody who lost someone dear to them as well. Relation is stronger in that aspect.

I am sorry about your friend I am sure they were a beautiful person.

As long as they are in your heart they will never disappear.

my father dies suddenly when i was 8 and since then i've used poetry to help bring closure to the pain i feel due to his absence. over the years i have pushed myself to write things filled with as much honesty and pain as possible; the more i've let out the more i have been able to remember him and be happy which is what i'm sure he would have wanted. so keep writing and i hope that one day you'll be able to find some peace.
