Hey Everyone, I have a quick question for you guys. I was reading around for facts about ecstasy and a lot of recources say that if you consume enough Vitamin C before taking a Pill of ecstasy it will prevent/stop the neurotixic effects it has. Can anyone confirm this and if they can how much vitamin C should I/can I consume healthily to precent neurotoxicity. Thanks a ton, Jay (p.s. Ive decided to write my posts as letters =P) EDIT: Okay well I was on erowid and they have an article on antioxidants and MDMA Heres the link: http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/mdma/mdma_article3.shtml
Bullshit. Vitamin C has a positive effect on the brain, however, it is NOT a counter to the neuro-toxic effects of Ecstasy. The toxicology of MDMA-like compounds can be avoided by simply weening-up on the dosage; start with one, and after a few weeks, you should be able to eat several pills without any neurological damage. Vitamin C is a nutrient necessary to the human body; so take %100 of your recommended intake, whether you roll or not. However, a glass of grape juice (the purple shit) can increase bloodflow through the GI tract by up to %500, giving you a much stronger experience.
vitamin c is a free-radical scavenger (as are all the anti-oxidants), but will do nothing for the damage to thin axons @ 5HT sites. an ssri may possibly negate that type of neurotoxicity, but then what's the point of taking a roll just don't excessively roll.
well i rememember a relatively extensive slideshow showing the way ecstacy effects the brain. it explained that the neurotoxicity of MDMA is caused when excess dopamine in synapses finds its way onto transporter proteins which held mdma molecule (as the mdma is metabolised), and then enters serotonergic axions, where they shouldnt be, causing some sort of degenisis. i dunno the accuracy of this, but following this logic they showed that taking ssri's on the comedown would prevent this. there is anecdotal evidence showing that taking ssri's before mdma is counterproductive but for the comedown, eases the mental anguish take what you can from this
