I'm trying to decide on University of Texas or University of North Texas. Both have excellent academic programs and both are outstanding universities. I'm considering a pre-professional degree in medicine or just going into engineering. As for a major probably Chemistry, Biochemistry, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science. So UT has the better engineering and I believe UNT has some good sciences. I don't know. Any ideas? By the way, I'm not going anywhere outside of Texas so please no slandering.
If the strength of the engineering program is the most important thing to you, then go to UT. If there's a different program that makes the difference, go to the university that has a stronger program in that field. For many people, it's a matter of money. Which one costs more? Which one offers you more generous financial aid? Visiting the campuses gives lots of people a push in the right direction. Is one university closer to home or in a more convenient location? Do you feel more comfortable at one more than the other?
?? Bush is from Connecticut, and went to Yale. oh and Chris, UT, hands down. unless you're going into Medicine (I'd say Baylor)
Are the universities still on the one-price sysytem? When I was attending a junior college, I was able to grab a class at UTA for the same semester hour costs. I think you should see who has the more attractive package for scholarships, housing, etc. Austin v. Denton could matter. Denton's pretty small in activities.
UT. Austin is one of the coolest towns in America. UT is a great school, and has excellent programs for engineering, and is aso quite a cut above UNT for sciences. UNT does have a better computer science program . Dallas is an okay place, with enough activities, but I guarentee you'll have more fun in Austin, and UT is a bit more prestigious then UNT. UT's a bit more expensive I believe. I have friends at both schools though. They all seem pretty happy.
