I'm new here and I thought, as a way to meet some people here, I'd share my love for art, since people always seem to say it's my thing. Anyway, this is a drawing I started of Jim Morrison. I'm really wondering if I should continue because his eyes are a bit crooked, his lips seem to be twisted into some strange expression, and his beautiful locks... are a pain in the ass to draw! But yeah... tell me what you think! Any criticism is welcome.
Welcome flowerchild, Actually your drawing looks Ok,You made Jim look real pure and innocent, He seems to be in a trance..I wonder what he'd be like if he were still here.
That's amazing... I really wish I could've been around for that... All I have is his beautiful voice and hypnotizing lyrics, though I find that enough! But I can't imagine actually seeing him preform.
*hero* its beautiful. i think u captured his soft side, the side of jim behind closed doors, its beautiful
As you said yerself, the eyes are a tad off,but with a bit of squinting it's fixed, then it looks fantastic! The space left is perfect for a beret. draw a beret! please!
haha, yeah I like the emotion in it. I love drawing people with gorgeous hair even though it is a pain in the ass to draw...damn, he is so sexy
It's hard to get the eyes to look right when a person is veering off to the side. His Iris's look a bit big compared to the actual eye part. Plus, just because the eye on one side is a light color, doesn't mean the other eye is just as light....it's about how the light is hitting his face. Try some shading. I think the lips look off because you didn't give them a wide enough space to spread horizontally, and the corners are really pointy. Try widening his face and squaring out his chin a little more. With the hair, try just doing a really light outline of what the top should look like, then fill it in with hair, don't map it out so specifically. If you look at pictures of Jim, his hair was wild and not so constructed. Just a little bit of it was everywhere. The shading is nice, though. You're talented. Don't throw this one away, if you didn't do the lines so dark and harsh, you can always erase the little mistakes and correct them.
No criticism to give here. We all now who it is even with the rough spots. Huge fan of Morrison here. Even though I'm a guy,you can't deny the sexuality he oozed onstage,in pictures,in his music. Some may call him a drunk,a fool or worse. But you can't deny his iconic status 30 years later. Very good job!
