i've just been watching sbs news the end segment was making comment on palm oil production in borneo i think it turns out they're destroying the jungle to make more of the bloody stuff by planting huge plantations. if the locals had any brains they'd realise they'd make more money from tourists coming to the jungle to see the orangutans than cutting it down. i've made my decision - i will not buy any more products with palm oil in. go forth and spread the word.
Well done - excellent. I HATE palm oil - people dont normally see the things they buy in shops - they see the product and not the stuff in it!!!!! Well done yay
You can try to boycott all you like, but you'll still end up using products derived from forest logging, it's inevitable. Most A4 paper comes from Indonesia, they don't plant sustainable pine forests, where does the paper come from?
This is so true, as well as hemp fuel, hemp clothes, hemp paper and cheap, biodegradable hemp filters for cigarettes...but people are dumb, what can i say.
riiiiiiight, cause agriculture of any kind doesnt affect indigenous plants... <insert eye rolling smilie here> king parrot's got a really good point.
Hemp would only replace forestry and agricultural practices already existing which harm the environment anyway. It would be a far superior and environmentally friendly choice however.
yeh, the point is to make the world better, not preserve it for the sake of preserving it. hemp will prevent indigenous plants from being destroyed. cannabis also grows non-intrusively. it is not a leeching plant, nor is it a nutrient hungry plant, its not impractical in a habitat sense, and it does not smother other plants like many imports do in fact, it also prevents weeds from growing (as in, its root system is beneficial to the ground of stable plants but not fast growing, fast spreading plants). it used to be used agriculturally in between seasons to prevent weed infestation and to keep soil optimum for planting in
