Hello What is the best dread shampoo out there? Got any recommendations? I have used DreadHead but It is alright. I need Tea Tree for my scalp and I a shampoo that already has it, or I can add it. Thanks
anything without any chemicals/preservatives that will stay in your hair, so smells/conditioners are a nogo. I recomend unsing natural hair soaps, so i use Juniper soap from a company called Lush. its drys the hair a bit but keeps it clean and doent condiotion it. I only wash my dreads once a week though at the most with the soap. Usually i just run water through them.
I used this all natural bar of shampoo from J.R. Liggett. I got it from a local health food store but you could also find it on the internet. I don't have dreadlocks, but I loved it. It kept my hair clean/fresh/shiny and fluffy for days, and my scalp felt so refreshed. The only problem I encountered was brushing my hair while wet (it was a bit knotty). I have a hunch that it would be an awesome shampoo for dreads. I used the original formula but they also have a tea tree formula and they're all all-natural.
nothing leave in... that has residue.... there Dove, which is like 99% pure.... Also, uhm, someone said dr bronners and K boy dread shampoo bar, 'swhat I use
i used the dreadhead HQ shampoo when i first started mine and i HATED it. no matter how much i rinsed, it always left weird white flakey bits in my hair. it could be the problem that i have hard water (lots of iron) and some soaps/shampoos don't work well in it. i don't know. but i've found that a nice apple cider vinegar rinse once in a while keeps my locks clean and fresh smelling.
just wanted to say that dove is not pure and would not be good for your dreads i make dread shampoo that has tea tree oil in it but i'm getting ready for a cross country move and am all sold out right now. i should have more by late september if you're still looking then. sorry that's not much help right now.
tea tree shampoo by herbal something... uh... damn. many local co-ops or big franchise ..cough, cough... health food stores sell this brand, though i cant think of the name. i'll get back to you. i really like this stuff though. it controls my dandruff and scalp itchies. and washes clean out of my locks. the best method of cleaning is to put the shampoo directly to your scalp and get that clean and healthy. the shampoo will rinse down your locks as you are rinsing. i like to rinse with a cup. but thats more out of pure enjoyment than a technicality.

i´ve pretty much always used br bronners. it´s got tea tree oil in it, too. i REALLY recommed that you use this soap. it´s great for not just dreads but for everything else, too. it´s also concentrated so you dont even need to use that much so a bottle will last a LONG time.
i TOTALLY second enchanted soapworks!!!!! that sweet sweet mama makes some KICK ASS soap!!! she sent me a phat box of goodies in trade a while back and i absolutely loved it all. i have yet to try out her new line of liquid soaps..... but her scents are amazing!!!! other than that, i used dr. bronners peppermint in the first couple years of dreading... now i just use whatever i spy.... LOL i just don't care no mo so long as they smell purty... francie pants
