I'm already 34 weeks and need to get one! any comments on preferences or the like?? or maybe you just don't use one at all. I wanna know!
depends on what size and shape you are what bra will work best for you. I found many that some of my friends totally love to cause me plugged ducts and other problems. Make absolutely positive that you get a bra that fits properly!! You have no idea what size you are going to be next month, or the month after that. It's different for each woman. Most women go up two cup sizes and down a band size from what they wore during pregnancy immediately after giving birth. I didn't. I went up, and up, and up some more and kept getting bigger in the cup until my babies started eating solid foods. The bras I like best for that in-between not sure what size you'll be tomorrow stage are the ones I got from www.decentexposures.com - make sure to follow their measuring instructions, they do not run the same sizes as other bras. The bras I like best otherwise are Jeunique, Goddess, and Fancee Free that I usually get from www.birthandbaby.com or, when I just happen to fit in them, you can get Playtex Expectant Moments (but they only go up to DD cup) at most department stores that sell maternity clothes.
what about ones like the one I found here: http://store.babycenter.com/product/clothing_maternity/clothing_for_mom/nursing_bras_tops/8735. It looks the most comfortable for me. Does anyone have any experience with these? My boobs are pretty small. Most A bras are even too big for them, even now that they've grown from the pregnancy. I don't know how big they'll be getting from the milk, but I don't think it should be TOO much bigger, right? I don't really know though.
Are nursing bras necessary? Because I don't wear bras anyway, and I don't feel comfortable in one, no matter how it fits....So do I actually need one?
Hippyfreek, while you might not need a nursing bra, a good supportive bra will be a must. How else are you going to hold those little pads in that soak up the leakage? Tammee. I went from a barely A to a large C while I was nursing. I felt so akward because I never wore or needed a bra to having huge boobs! I was very grateful when they shrunk after they weaned.
Nay for me. I just wear a nice comfy regular bra with no padding, wires or push up or whatever else they have (I'm not a bra person either! LOL). I just hike it up when it's time to nurse. I did find that I had to wear something to contain the leakage a bit. It's not so bad now that my babe is a year old, but at first you'll drip like a leaky faucet.
i like my playtex cotton one the best. it's got wide wide straps at the top, and the cup opens up super easy one handed, and it's cheap. LOVE IT.
some women never leak. I never did! If you don't need a bra, don't wear one! I find it best to go without one as much as possible anyway. Helps prevent plugged ducts, thrush, nipple pain, and back pain. Plus it's just easier, especially if baby is newborn or going through a growth spurt and spending more time nursing than anything else. Tamee, I really like that cotton top you linked to. Get one that's one or two sizes bigger than what you think you'll need. I always wanted something like that, but they just don't make them to fit women with really really big boobs.
yay... I went up to a size "E" this time. My breasts kill my back and since they are always full of milk the support is much needed. I'd say if your already larger breasted a bra is prob a good idea... plus, you always leak (at least I do) and those little breastpads are so needed unless you don't mind walking around looking like you've been in a wet tee shirt contest, lol. I prefer underwire since I need alot of support... I even wear my bra to bed. I got used to it... It is better in the end for me anyway, my back gets more support. I can't take soft bras or ones without underwire. I wish I could anymore but there is just too much weight up top. I hope you find something that works for you!
This kinda makes me wonder if the one I had caused my one boob to be so infected...the odd thing is, that breast is WAY smaller than the other, so it shouldn't hvae.....hummm.. I liked mine just because it was easier to change the nursing pads (or "period pads" most of the time ) When I was trying to bf Leane, I must say that it made things easier than hiking up my other bras. The only one that I have to say didn't bug me that wasn't a nursing bra was my sports bra. If you don't leak, don't wear one, I felt a MILLION times better when I didn't, but I leaked like you wouldn't believe, so I really had no choice.
From the sounds of it (as well as trying to fit a nursing pad into one of my cami-tops that has a "shelf" in it) I probably won't need a bra. I had just expected to wear cami tops all summer for easy access. Plus a few of mine have shelfs in them so I can just put my nursing pads, if needed, in there. My boobs haven't grown really at all. If they do grow, a cami stretches. It's breathable cotton and I've never had a problem wearing one (It's hard to find a proper bra for a big momma with no boobs).
man, i leak so constantly. i swear, my tits hear a baby crying a half mile away and my shirt is soaked and starts to sop into my pants or whatever i happen to be laying. i slept on towels for a couple months.
That is how I was like. It was like I was in a wet tshirt contest half the time. Holly, my boobs didn't grow at all until my milk came in. Then it was like, whoa! I actually look like a woman!
I personally do not like nursing bras. I tried many different styles when I had my son. After spending way too much money, I found that my favorite "nursing" bra was the Victoria's Secret full coverage cotton bras. They are stretchy and I could easily move the cup under my breast to feed him and place a diaper or towel under the other (I'd leak from the other side). I already ordered myself 4 of these bras for this pregnancy and plan to use them thru nursing.
