Does anyone's cat have bumps kind of like scabs? My cat Brina has bumps on her head that when I looked closeley were just scab-like, not an actual bump under the skin. No pus, no blood, and the bumps are very small but in clusters so they feel big. Is this Feline Acne? My mom said our other cat had it and it went away.
The bumps on her head cleared up but now there are some on her chin.(Her hair on her chin is white and I can see the bumbs are dark) She hates being held still and will fight so it is not like I can get a good look. She acts fine and doesn't seem to be in pain.
Is there anything I can do? I do not want to pay $80 for a 5-minute "consultation" and some ointment I can get at the grocery store. I feel vets charge too much (all medical people charge too much) but if it is serious I do not have a problem taking her.
    Anyone?

Is your cat a white cat? does she go outdoors? white cats are VERY prone to skin cancer and usually when these bumps show up -that it what it is. they tend to get them alot on the ears. other than that, i've never heard of cat acne. i have read my "cat" book almost front to back and it never said anything about acne. i'd take her to the vet......bumps sound like symptom of something more serious.

No she is not white, She is a tabby. I am sure this is just a skin problem. My mom said that her (our) cat had the same thing but it went away on its own....

my cat gets clogged pores on his face if he eats out of a plastic dish... almost like black heads, and with time they progress into a cold sore looking thing on his lip. My cat is a tabby mix, with a white chin also, so you can really see the black heads. Does you cat eat out of a plastic dish?

Well I hear plastic is bad for them for that reason. I switched her food to a metal bowl but she and the dog share a plastic drinking fountain. She did have this problem before, on her ears, even with no plastic for a bowl.

It probably is cat acne. I had a tabby who had it but it was on his chin, we would shave the fur and put cream on it and it went away.

It sounds just like the feline acne our cat had. Big scabby looking stuff on her chin. She went to the vet and got some antibiotic stuff for it, not sure exactly what medicine it was though.

Could also be a kind of fungal infection, our dog had one and it sounds similar. But just get her to the vets, if you're worried.

Does she go outside? She may be getting into small fights or scraped up by trees and stuff and just be very prone to scabs. I might be wrong, it's just a thought, but I have 3 cats and my boyfriend's family has about 12 (though 4 are newborn baby kitties) and all of the outside cats always come around with scabs and stuff because they roughhouse a lot. But definitely get it checked out by a vet, since it sounds like you've found more than the typical kitty scabs.

Her problem seems to be clearing up on its own. She was never in pain from it and didn't scratch herself raw or anything.
Ramona- She's never left unattended outside. She's quite the princess and is pretty good about staying close to the house when I let her in the sunshine.

Ah...that's crazy! I've never known of a cat that didn't go off and explore when let outside. You're lucky! We always have to chase ours all over the place to get them back home...lol.
