I'm no expert but I would surmise that you would have to travel faster than the speed of light to travel back in time.
Any year of the 1950s or 1960s will do me!.:)

I'm inclined to agree with you because It is almost a physical impossibility to transport the mass of a human body back in time. Then, again: 'Television' would have been inconceivable to people of the 19th century.

Yup, it's not about time, it's not about space, it's about multidimensionality, as mentioned in the article.

It's those parallel universes that we can supposedly connect to.

I really think it's our distorted conception of time (just like our limited sensory perceptions) that keep us from traveling thru to these other dimensions. If we truly realize that time DOES NOT EXIST in reality, the door to moving between dimensions will open to us...

But we are travelling to them, constantly. :DIt's like everyone has their own little dimension, but I guess they can cross or something.. But whatever, there are probably infinite dimension things so... Basically at every single choice.. Like every possible choice is taken or something. :D Maybe I should go read that article.

If time traveling was possible I doubt they would let just anyone go about doing it. I think they would use it for educational reasons to see what really happened when and where.

Time is just another dimension, like up/down or left/right... It's a strange one, given, and one that we are always (from our perspectives) hurtling through at the speed of light...
Now, if you went to the future, according to some quantum mechanics thingy then that future would come true. Cause the future exists in an infinite amount of outcomes, at the same time, until it is observed, then the 'wave' structure of the future 'crashes' into a point, becoming reality.
So the only 'safe' alternative is the past (you don't want to inadvertently cause wwIII,) but that has it's dangers to, cause if your machine breaks, odds are you are stuck there and most of the past sucks. Dinosaurs and the Romans become much less interesting, and much more threatening, if you have to deal with them on a day to day basis.

And you don't have to travel faster than the speed of light to go back in time, or 88 miles an hour, that's just movies messing with your brain... :)

    You can't change the past...
Cause whatever you do is already the past.
It's hard to explain, so draw a line.
At one end you have point A, the 'event' you want to 'change', and point B, the point where you time travel from.
Now, point A is a necessity for point b, cause if you prevented WWII we wouldn't have nukes, thus the cold war, thus most advances in science (thank communist paranoia for the internet). So if you 'erased' point a, you would never have come back in time to correct it.... OR, here's the weird part, you already had changed it by the time you are departing from B, cause A is in the past, so whatever you did has already BECOME the past...
It's an old paradox: what happens if i go back in time and kill my father before my conception? well, the answer is that you didn't go back in time and kill your father before your conception, cause you wouldn't be here to go back in time to kill your father...
Most of this makes sense if you realize that because time is just another dimension, free will is only an illusion...

But how can you be in the past when your being there makes it part of your own future? It's just infinite dimensions.. Everything just is.

I didn't mean they would literally change it, but be like yeah we were there and this is how it really was. But still, time doesn't exist so talking about going either way in it is kinda pointless. It's all simply infinite 'now's.. :D

i have a time travel device, it lets me go into the future.

it's a cottony thing with springs in the middle, known as a mattress, i've found that i can only go 3-8 hours into the future, and i can't go back again
