Hello All =) Would any people in a rainbow family be interested in a short interview? I'm writing an ethnography to address the nature of the family’s community. I'm mainly asking questions about the heart of the rainbow family. What is the origin of their community’s connection? What roots their commonality? What fabrics their bond? All requests are appreciated!! =)
Well I would be willing to answer a couple of questions but I am hardly an expert, I´ve only been to one national and a handful of NYC local events, and even i was I´m sure you know that nobody could possibly claim to speak for the entire family. That being said, send me a private message or a an email at Jesse.Sternberg@Oberlin.edu and I´ll try to help you out as best I can.
What roots anyone? What causes us to grow beyond that place? or to return? The answers may lie in the Rainbow Family but it would only be because the answers are universal. as to how the hippies got started, I think it had to do with the disintegration of the traditional nuclear family. We endorsed divorce in '58, had latch-key kids by '59 and then the 60's came. why do we stay together? we don't, but love is good, so we keep coming back or gathering together in new ways now a days the kids live in online communities.
the best..no the only way to get the info you seek is to just go.. well..to really understand the reasonings..youd probably need 10 or more.. but going to hipstory circles and just talking to elders whove been around from the beginning, just taking part & being there.. we've had a concensus from the behinning that noone can really speak for the family we can speak for ourselves and what it might mean for us or share experiences but to speak for the family requires us to speak with 1 voice..all in total agreement so you need to ask "everybody" and anything said by less then 3, or contradicted by even 1 cannot me taken as being anything more then someones opinion if ya want opinions howver..onlines a great place to get a ton..right wrong or irrelevant
