Yeah smoking is bad period....I quit close to two months ago. A month and about three weeks... However...it's not just that easy to just stop, for most people. That IS how I did it, because that's the only way I can ever do anything...but, that just doesn't work for most people, so cut her some slack dudes and dudettes. It's hard thing to overcome.
I wouldn't recommend using these for giving up smoking and not because of the vegan thing. Although they do not contain nicotine they usually contain as much if not more tar than normal ciggies. They also keep you in the habit of smoking. So you will still be smoking but will not be getting the hit. I don't know wnyone who has given up long term using these. When I gave up I did yoga every day to cope with the withdrawals. You just have to accept that you might feel pretty stressed and shitty for a couple weeks. Once you have accepted this it's a lot easier to stop. I smoked for 11 years and was thrilled to bits when I stopped. You won't look back.
A bit more assistance if you're interested. Positive affirmations are very good when stopping smoking. They should be short, positive and present tense such as "I am living a wonderfully healthy smoke free life", these can also be accompanied by a positive visualisation if you wish. Also I feel it is important to substitute the loss of the cigarettes with something new, a new hobby or something so you don't feel the loss as much. I chose yoga because it is great for physical mental and emotional health. Just choose something that you really enjoy and look forward to. Good luck.
Thanks for all your replies everyone, I can understand how a lot of you say 'just stop' but like Apples said, it's really not that easy. My job is very stressful to start with, nearly everyone there smokes - at their desks I might add. The government is finally bringing in a smoking in public places ban next year so that would make it a lot easier. I can't ask my boss to make it a no smoking zone as it's a family business and his children are the main culprits. I know it all sounds like excuses, but you try quitting when you've got dickheads screaming at you over the phone and other dickheads blowing smoke in your face! I know 'cos I've tried! And my poor husband! He was the end of his tether with me aswell! Also, working as much as I do, there's very little time for new hobbies let alone spending time with my husband. I don't smoke pre-mades so switching to roll your own natural tabacco would be good for me - the whole making process blah blah blah. The natural tabacco I have found has a lot less tar in them than normal tabacco. Thanks again everyone for your opinions. I think I shall have to try these natural things, it'll be better in the long run anyhow. And I promise I'll apologise to every bee I come across (and tell them Apples ain't interested!)!
I would definately use the honey stuff. Smoking hurts more animals than honey does. Did you know that cigarette companies test on animals? They cut a hole in their throat and make it so they can only breath through that hole, which is stuffed with a cigarette. Well, something to that effect. Quitting is better for you and for animals.
Everyone I know who has quit smoking has done so cold turkey. I think the majority of people who do so, do it that way, actually.
lol!! i was attacked by a hive of bees when i was 3...and IN A BATHING SUITE at that. Yeah, ask me how much i care about "stealing" their honey? not much i dont care about the honey thing either. they're not being treated so badly a point of unacceptable cruelty. I'll lick that honey up as long as it's being fed to me. I give up enough at this point. Push me any further and i might lose it.
