Dude theres a million of them, they are usually always good, that hop wallop isnt even all that great just really hoppy thats about it. Go for like tripple bocks and shit, they are really good

I think the Stone IPA is a lot better, but thats just me. The hoppiness in the Stone tastes more balanced over all, I usually only drink like 3-4 hop wallops and i get tired of it

Also, strong abbey ales are usually good

I think it's a matter of opinion and personal taste. There are some beers that you may like that others may not care for. Some people like the intense sweetness of McEwan's Scottish Ale, while I personally find it to be cloying. It doesn't mean it's not a good beer, I simply don't care for it. Some people don't like beers with a lot of hops, while some do. I do.

Hop Wallop isn't my favorite double IPA, but it still ranks up there. Stone Ruination IPA is probably my favorite double IPA, as well as Dogfish Head's 90 Minute IPA.

To answer Nesta's questions. Hop Wallop runs around $10.99-11.99 a six-pack, depending on where you're buying it. As far as I know, it's not widely distributed outside of the Northeast.... or even in the Northeast for that matter.

If you're looking for a good imperial stout, look out for Old Rasputin, Stone Imperial Russian Stout, Samuel Smith's Imperial Stout and Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout. All are very good.

I really don't judge beers based on their alcohol content, because some of the best have a relatively moderate alcohol content. If you are looking specifically for stronger beers in the 8-11% plus range, look for Belgian tripels and quads, doppelbocks, eisbocks, weizenbocks, olde ales, double IPA's, imperial stouts and barleywines.

To me, beers in the 6-7% range are most preferable when I want to drink more than just a couple. Higher alcohol beers are not generally intended to be consumed in large quantities (unless you have a really high tolerance for alcohol), but I am sure you already know that.

Yea man, the Ruination is by far my favroite IPA as well. I love hoppy beers, just some of them start to taste dull really quick and go down without being noticed, like budweiser. Not comparing the taste just how quickly the taste goes away

  4. We drink Coopers like water in my city. But you can't get fosters in liquor stores here because nobody drinks it, simply because it tastes like cat piss, go figure.

ugh, can't wait for my birthday...last time i send someone in to get me some beer without a damn specific request...ended up stuck with most of a six pack of tecate (aka mexican pisswater, twin of corona......)

i dont know why, but it seems some people think all imports and microbreweries are created equal.....

oh well. its not all bad, i've also got some newcastle, which i'm drinking presently. definitely not the best, but its a damn sight better than tecate....

maybe if i'm lucky my paycheck tomorrow will be enough to allow me to celebrate and buy a little bit of pot and a couple painkillers....that would make the tecate a hell of a lot more bearable...

i'm just a little irked though. tecate is terrible, and to me it honestly tastes pretty much just like corona, miller, budweiser, all that other swill. only it costs about 8 dollars a six pack, which is a big difference. for 8 bucks i probably could have gotten 12 budweisers...then at least i'd be stretching my money a little more, even if the beer still sucks...

Yeah, Tecate is pretty nasty stuff. The only beer made south of the border that I don't mind is Negra Modelo, which I actually enjoy drinking from time to time.

Anyway, going back to the original question, "What are you drinking tonight?"

Right now I am drinking Tilburg's Dutch Brown Ale, which will be followed by a couple bottles of Duvel.

yeah, i was about to say i like negra modelo but i was buzzed and didnt really think it was too relevant. if i'm not mistaken, isn't it actually made by corona? or at least distributed by the same company....either way, i'm constantly bugged by the fact that it's mexican but isn't consistant with the genderization of the words....i'd assume it should be negra modela or negro modelo, but not negra modelo....perhaps it is negro modelo, but the US market simply isn't ready for a beer with NEGRO in big letters on the packaging, lol.....

i like it. definitely not my favorite though.

yeah, just got off work, downed a tecate as quickly as i could so that i would taste it as little as possible...

have two more chilling. i figure i might as well polish off this gross mess so i'll be able to enjoy the good(ish) newcastle more thoroughly when i get to it...

still, i'd rather be drinking la fin du monde or don de dieu or something....

I got a bottle of wine last night, but I forgot that the only corkscrew I have, is packed away with some other kitchen stuff from when I moved. And I dont think I want to attempt what I did the last time I had wine and no corkscrew -forced the cork down inside the bottle- when wine flew everywhere, lost half of it, squirted up and stained the kitchen ceiling... a messss. So I guess I should wait 'till I can open this bottle properly...

Damn, but Im craving wine right now though...

    *sighs*
