"I woke up this morning and I got myself a beer. The future's uncertain and the end is always near. Let it roll." --Jim Morrison
i love the doors has anyone heard celebration of the lizard? id say its one of the wierdest doors songs ever but its great 18 mins long DOWNLOAD IT NOW haha speaking of doors light my fire was on at work tonight better than teh usuall crap they have on ::shakes fist at rap::
I'm a huge Doors fan. I've been listening to the Doors since I was 12yrs old. Just recently bought the complete studio recordings. Always wanted to live in the same fashion as Jim Morrison lived his life, but I got interrupted and had to reconsider my life.
haha... that reminds me... do you know of that instance where Jim was drunk and flashed everyone, etc. etc. and eventually got arrested...? It was in Miami, anyway, my dad was there haha, I think that's so cool, but they never got to play.
Ahh yes, "Five to One." Jim was so drunk during the recording of that song that you can actually hear him hiccuping, if you listen closely. Eh, I don't know... you know he did one time lock his girlfriend in a closet and light it on fire. That doesn't sound too good to me! Supposedly, he never actually showed the audience his penis. (This is according to the band.) He made it seem as though he had shown it to them. Ray Manzarek says there was no way he could have pulled it out the way he "supposedly" did. But seriously, Jim Morrison was an acid rock god.
I love that pic of Morrison, I want to find a pair of pants like that! Awesome music too. I love everything about the doors! Especially Jim Morrison I believe that he's the most attractive man that ever lived. I really like his spoken word stuff, like on An American Prayer. Very poetic. I think I'll listen to some Morrison right now.. Peace&Love
I just listened to that song, and I didnt hear any hiccups. What part does he hiccup in? But damn, listening to that song closely reminded me why I love Jim so much.
Well, it's kinda hard to hear, and I can't remember exactly where it is. I think he does it multiple times throughout the song, though. I'll listen to it in a bit and tell you exactly where to listen. By the way, does anyone like the Doors' song "The Soft Parade?" It's one of my favorite Doors' songs. It's composed of five or six seperate pieces that were kind of blended together. It's really interesting. Cool, congratulations! Morrison Hotel is pretty good, although not one of my favorites. I really like "Peace Frog," "Land Ho!," "Queen of the Highway," and "Maggie M'Gill." They're all cool songs. I especially like the spoken word part during "Peace Frog:" Indians scattered on dawn's highway bleedingGhosts crowd the young child's fragile, eggshell mind
i love the doors. and i have to say because nobody's said it yet that without john, ray, and robby jim would have been nothing. they are the perfect people to back him up... without ray's vision the band couldn't have happened, and shit, john densmore may not be the greatest drummer of all time but he definitely had his style and it works sooooo well with the band. same goes for robby... they each brought different influences and backgrounds to the music. that's why the doors were so good. thank god all four of them found eachother!
Yes, exactly. I especially love Ray's keyboards. They add SO much to the music. Robby is a great guitarist, and he wrote a good number of songs for the band, including "Light My Fire." John's drumming is great as well, especially on "The End" when he does that thing where he presses his elbow into the drum. As you said, Jim Morrison would have been nothing without Ray, Robby, and John.
hahaha, yes I noticed Jim was extremely drunk, yet I love the song anyways. It has a very LoOoOooosse feeling, if you know what I mean. that part creeped me out a bit! But only a little... I want to get in a pair of pants like that... I wonder what made it impossible... it was too big possibly??? yeah, I think I'm going with that story. anyways, I love the music, haven't listened to it in around a month, (a long time for music in my world) just put it on again earlier today, and I still love it. yay!
I became OBSESSED with Jim Morrison about 15 years ago. About a year or two after my obsession began (and at a time when most people still had an attachment with and fascination for the 60's), a big Doors revival happened when the movie came out. That was a great time to be alive for a crazed Doors fan. But as with all obsessions, it couldn't sustain itself after a couple of years, and although I still buy new books occasionally and play an album sometimes, the thrill is no longer there, which is just too bad... Now that the hero worship has gone I realise he was a very angry man, a flawed character with a huge amount of personal problems that he tried to drown out with alcohol and other drugs. But I have to say Jim Morrison inspired me and changed my life in many ways. What a life he had! He was (and still is) fascinating to read about. Their music was fantastic too.
jim morrison...the doors.... shit they're just indescribable...no one here gets out alive is an incredible book....read it anyone with an interest in jim... ......oh and alan wilson wasn't the first in the 27 club, brian jones died at 27 in july of '69 and if you want to go back further robert johnson was 27 when he died in...im pretty sure it was '38..... i guess it dosen't really matter... no disrespect for alan wilson or anything... im just thinkin aloud.
LOL... thanks, I stand corrected! It's just that the media seems to have lumped Hendrix, Joplin and Morrison together for the "27" reason, yet Alan Wilson died a mere 2 weeks before Jimi Hendrix, and Jim Morrison died in a different year altogether. I suppose it's because these three had a star quality that Alan Wilson didn't, despite him having sang a couple of the most well-known songs of the late 60s. What about Jim Morrison saying to his friends "You're drinking with number 3" in No One Here Gets Out Alive. Even HE left out his friend. I have a lot of trouble believing a lot of what is in that book, but it is a FANTASTIC read, true or not.
i think that jim was an old soul and he knew his time would come...he was a brilliant artist and unfortunately they never seem to stay for as long as we'd like... that is if you believe that he's dead... i've always liked to believe the story that he just disapeared and went to morroco, only pamela would know and she died a couple years after...
My best friend thinks jim is still alive... she feels the same way about Elvis, John Lennon, and Bob Marley... she has a hard time coping. But then again, you never know...
