Well, you'd best get yourself checked out as well... if she has Thrush, you can have it also and could have gotten while you were having sex with her.

I don't know how long it takes to clear up, though.

Thrush is a yeast beacterial infection. Caused by an excess of yeat bacteria. It can be caused by any number of things, like taking antibiotics for extended periods, wearing damp bathers or synthetic non breathable panties, babies also can get thrush and it can manifest in the genital area as well as the mouth.

It can be transmitted from person to person, technically its not an std because it can be self manifesting, but yes, guys can contract thrush from their girlfriends. The only problem with this is that if she treats the thrush and you have intercourse you might give it back to her. and vice versa, so you should both be treated at the same time if you have thrush.

You should make sure you wear clean cotton undies, keep your gentials clean to reduce the risk of re-infection.

Thrush can be treated with special anti bacterial creams and tablets, sometimes both. Its easily treatable. See your doctor though before pursuing any treatment.

    hope this helps

    oh I forgot symptoms

    abnormal and itchy discharge

    Men and Thrush

Men who get thrush tend to assume it was sexually transmitted, but men who aren't sexually active also develop it. Symptoms appear as itching and soreness of the head of the penis. Men with foreskin are particularly prone to develop thrush symptoms that are similar to the yeasty vaginal discharge experienced by women.

Common Oral Thrush SymptomsThrush symptoms most often appear in the mouth and sometimes in the throat. Candidiasis causes often painful, slightly raised ulcers or skin lesions that usually look creamy white. Curd-like, bumpy white "cottage cheese" in the mouth and a dry mouth are common oral thrush symptoms.

Candidiasis in the mouth may spread to the esophagus, making swallowing painful or difficult.

Vaginal Thrush: Symptoms of a Yeast Infection

Most women experience vaginal thrush symptoms at least once in their lives, and some women have a chronic version that recurs frequently. Vaginal thrush symptoms include itching and burning sensations in the vagina and vulva, particularly when urinating. Thrush may also cause soreness and swelling. Symptoms are accompanied by a thick white or clear discharge that has a distinctive yeasty odor.

Thrush is also common in babies. They get it in their mouths, little white spots that look like milk on their lips, but won't come off. Then, they transfer it to their nursing mothers' breasts...ouch.

You may have to get a prescription anti-fungal med. You can get it in pill-form so you don't have to mess with the messy cream.

Yes, no sex. Or else you keep passing it back and forth. I THINK that the prescription is just one pill. If your g/f uses the creams monistat or whatever, it is usually 3 or 7 days.

I just read about Diflucan, the prescription pill. It is one pill, and it takes on average 3-5 days to clear up the infection. She also might want to get a cream to relieve the itching, as well. Vagistat or monistat.

I guess just ask the chemist, if you don't go to a doctor. Don't take meds for things you don't have! :)

I got it once on vacation in Jamaica! It was not a good thing at all being in a foreign country and being in such discomfort. I think I had a very bad case though. It was much worse that what you guys are discribing but, it went away once I got back to the states and got some antibiotics and cremes! My point is, if you are going out of the country and planning on swimming a lot, take some extra medication, like Monistat or whatever you buy to take care of yeast infections. It sucks major to be stuck with that problem somewhere you can't take care of it!
