OK first off let me just say that neither my fiance nor I are computer illiterate by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, we built the computer I'm on right now. We built it about 2 years ago and its always worked fine...until now. For some reason, everytime we go on we have to reinstall the printer and the soundcard. We also keep getting errors that will say something like; "MSHMTL has performed an illegal operation and must be shut down". What the hell is going on? Its getting annoying having to constantly reinstall the printer and soundcard!
Have you made any big changes or updates recently (updated/new OS or something along those lines)? Maybe the printer and soundcard aren't compatible with something new.
Could be that or the motherboard itself has gone bad. Do you get any blue screens? If so, write down the error number when you get it. Post it here, I'll look it up. Doesn't sound like a virus so I think you are safe there. Let me know the details.
Dude, I just got 2 blue screens in a row and had to restart my computer. The first one said; "Fatal exception 06 has occured at 0028:00000017." The second one said; "Fatal exception 0E has occured at 0028:00700465."
I'm using Windows98 Ok, here is a blue screen I just got.... IEXPLORE caused an invalid page fault in module MSHTML.DLL at 0167:7ad9ab2a. That could be a number of things, but most likely a windows fault. Try a fresh format and a reinstall of the OS. XP if your rig can handle it.
