of course you can. why couldnt you? you could smoke anything in a hookah, but you just wouldnt want to.

in fact, hookahs usually deliver some nice hits

Smoking weed out of hookahs kinda sucks. More accepted way to consume through a hookah is to mix hash with your shisha.

hookahs are great even if you dont have hash. i wouldnt put bud in there though, but hash over shisha sounds like a good idea.

Yea it's called shisha, it's a type of tobacco with molasses and other shit in it. You burn it with a coal. It burns slow. People mix hash in with it, but people who try to smoke straight nugs out of a hookah usually don't know that a hookah is for a type of tobacco and you don't use a lighter on it.

 

hookahs are awesome if you light it with a lighter like a bong.
they get stale if you use the charcoal.

i always get my best hit ever of this 36" egyptian hookah this kid i know has. it has 2 whips but it hits better if you cover one with your thumb and hit out of the other. it always makes me light-headed.

Because a hookah isn't made for buds, it's made for a type of slow-burning tobacco called shisha, traditionally people sit around a table and hit the same bowl for like an hour or even more, that's why the bowls in them are so huge... it's not for weed really. smoke crack out of it if you want, who gives a shit, but it's not what a hookah is for and IME you can tell when you try to smoke trees out of it.

 

people seem to be forgetting that there are hookahs that ARE designed for pot. my buddy's got a four hose glass hookah with a large glass slide peice (like in a bong) that fits into a very long stem that goes down into the water. when you get three or four people smoking it you can either prevent the smoke from going stale by smoking the bowl rapidly, which will get everyone involved very stoned very quickly, or you can make use of the sliding feature and clear the thing between group hits.

if you choose to smoke these rapidly, i suggest figuring out the best pattern for hitting it to ensure even and constant suction. we've found with the four hose hookah, with four smokers, it's best to have two people hit at once (opposite hoses) while the other two rest for a second and catch their breath, then the other two hit while the first two cover their mouthpeices.

anyway, the large brass/glass ornate middle eastern hookahs are very different in form and function from hookahs designed for pot smoking, and you wouldnt want to smoke pot out of them generally. but hookahs designed for pot are great, in the same way a gravity bong is great; i just wouldnt want to smoke that way all the time.

yeah well mine is more designed for pot just small 15cm brown glass you put in the water and "suck" i havent got to try it hope my dad goes away for the weekend

 

My sentiments exactly. I just stick a block directly undera coal (underneath foil).
