aahhh!! i'm a 25 year old chick who's never been to a wedding! but now i'm going with my very cute friend; i know none of his friends and want to look cute, funky, but not too wacky. i've got dreadlocks and a prominent tattoo, so i want a demure enough look to balance the crazies. i don't even know where to start! i haven't bought a fancy dress since the prom. and shoes? are there shoes that look good, feel good, and are danceable?
suggestions? good stores? advice??!! also, what do ya think i should do with my hair? (long locks)

    any advice shall be considered...

i would pull your hair back and maybe up if it will do it. maybe find a pretty tie or barrette. as for shoes, sure there are good ones, just not high heels. how about a pair of ballet-style flats? dress, well...there are many many dresses out there...i've always loved vintage but that's hard to get anymore. you could go thrifting, or you could pick something up new for not too much. hard to say without knowing your style, but weddings are pretty open to interpretation these days, that is, you don't usually have to be all that fancy.

i'm having the same problem. i have 2 weddings to go to in may and june, and i have no effing clue what to do. I haven't done anything to myself since prom either, and i'm clueless. I want to dress up really nice though, because it's been soooo long since i've been dollied up....i hate to admit it but i went gallavanting around the mall the other day and tried a few things on, and i found some really nice stuff. it's just so hard to find something that looks right on me. i'm so awkward :&

good luck with your quest, anyways :)

If you're worried about your dreads, just tie them back... an elastic would do... and any formal outfit you think is appropriate will do... but trust me, few people will notice whatever dreads and tatoos you have, they're more so looking at the bride than the guests!
