i know all the lyrics but is there any written proof that this song is about lsd? or does everyone just assume due to the lyrics?

There can never be proof of that. The rumour started because the title spells LSD and ok the lyrics are pretty trippy. But John said it many times, it's not about LSD, it was actually written after his son Julian showed him a picture that he drew of his classmate Lucy who was floating in the sky with diamonds. I saw the picture.

This is one of those things where the fact that it should be true is more important than whether it actualy is or not.

(My theory is that it was written so that, seven years later, it could inspire the name of a fossil.)

I love that song... partially because my name's Lucy and it's how most people remember me :p Yeah it's commonly thought it's about LSD, but who really cares? It's a cool song, title spells LSD, whoopdeeshit.

It doesn't matter. The song is brilliant, and it really doesn't matter what it means. Yes, I'm sure it does mean LSD, but that's simplistic, since it's a beautiful piece of psychedelic art.
