Hitch hiking with my brother, in the early 80's, we happened through the Mojave desert. At that point, it seemed our travels were getting harder by the day - and so there we were, facing a desert on top of everything else. We walked up the on ramp toward the highway and came to a sign. The sign told us that those with a say in the matter did not want non motorized vehicles, pedestrians, etc., on the highway. Nothing wierd about that: every on ramp we had ever been on had such a sign. But, just below the words, a lizard had crawled up on the sign, died, and over time, hardened in place. If I had traveled with a camera, that image may have earned a page in LIFE, or NATIONAL GEOGRAPHICS.
