well if you just got it done, make sure you dont wear cloths that will snag it.
and you sould let it dry out for a day
get some bactine and some q tips and clean it with that 3 times a day no more and no less.
if youve had it for a while, get some neosporen and a bandaid, and keep it most and covered.

just dont take out he ring, unless it looks real nasty. i mean REAL nasty

your belly button needs to heal for a long time (with the ring in it)
i was told that you souldnt change it for 3 months or so
(i use to date a tatto artist.) just keep that ring in for a long while
and keep it clean, and compfortable. dont wear tight cloths near the ring
and if you do put a bandaid over it. just take care of it.

i have seen some real nasty infections . . . bistered, bloody, . . . just some real nasty sheeout. please just keep an eye on it, clean it with the bactine (not alchohol, itll dry it out way too much, and dont put neosporen on it)
in a couple days start to move the ring up and down, give it some time before you do start playing with it

Clean it twice a day with yellow antibacterial soap...when it gets all warm & lathered up, turn the ring & clean the part thats on the inside. Rinse with warm water & pat dry. Don't wear clothing thats too snug or can snag it. Don't EVER use anything alcohol based or that ear-cleaning junk. If its really bad, use a 1 part salt/3 parts warm water solution. Pussing, redness & swelling are typical, but if you keep it clean, it should heal nicely. Good luck!

Remember if it doesn't clear up in a few days go see your doctor. Blood poisoning can be dangerous.

The best thing you can do is don't touch it, plus what these guys are saying.

    Hi

Have three piercings in my belly button at the mo - the only thing you should clean it with is a solution of 1 teaspoon of sea salt dissolved in 100ml of boiled water. Use cotton buds (new one for either side of the piercing), and the most important thing is to ensure it's dry.
This should clear it up quickly. But yes, it takes between 3 and 5 month for belly button piercings to heal properly. Don't change the ring again!!

For the first week or two I do mine twice a day - morning and evening. Then after about a fortnight limit down to once a day - either morning or evening, whichever fits into your routine better. It'll clear up - just don't panic, and try as much as you can (apart from cleaning it) just leave it alone.

i'd say (since i have one also) just keep cleaning it.. clean it three times aday and use epson salts also... and then leave it alone don't touch is or move it around.. and wear a shirt that exposes your stomach so air can come freely to it.. :) but leave it alobe otherwise.... mine was infected a lot and i just left it alone i didn't even clean it really i just left it alone and let it do whatever and sooner or later then it wasn't infected

DIAL SOAP and use a q tip to get all the nooks and crannies and to not let your fingers touch the skin which could spread bacteria. DIAL SOAP DIAL SOAP.
