    This is absolutely outrageous!

    from http://www.savealaskawolves.org/:
"Led by Defenders of Wildlife, the people of Alaska have TWICE voted to ban land-and-shoot killing. But certain state officials want wolves killed to boost moose and caribou herds for hunters and passed a law overturning the people's vote. And now Alaska's Board of Game has approved the use of airplanes to kill grizzly and black bears."

That is disqusting. Killing off the animals so humans can have an easier time humting their game. How pathetic can people get. Wolves, bears, etc...actually need that game to survive, and because of that they are punished? And state officials actually overriding the popular vote?

Thanks for pointing this out, aranyria.

It's times like these when one recalls that we live in REPUBLIC.

    I love wolves - that's just horrible.

man, i'm an avid hunter, and i think that this is fucked up....they blatantly come out and say what they are wanting to do huh...it would be different if the wolves actually posed a threat, but according to popular vote they must not have been that big of a threat......that dont seem very democratic......

I am completely opposed to the aerial killing of wolves and feel it is not even close to a proper game management plan, but I guess the quoted poster has never seen people who actually rely on wild game to survive. These areas where this so called "game managment" is taking place is inhabited by mostly native villages that are lucky to have even a small store to shop for food.

In much of Alaska subsistance living includes the harvesting of wild game as part of human survival.
