Joan Baez's cover of 'Simple Twist of Fate'? It's really funny, because in one verse she tries to sound like the female version of Bob Dylan.
sufjan stevens. you should listen to the frygirl, he made an album dedicated to your state, its glorious
sufjan stevens is a glorious singer/songwriter who has taken upon a great mission, to create one album full of music of each state in the U.S.A. so far, he has done Michigan, and Illinois, and both of them are spectacular. he is known for doing nearly all the instrumentation in his songs, and believe me, once you hear some of his songs, you'll be amazed about how well he can compose all by himself. he's also known for doing many songs in the time signature 5/4(i think thats right...), meaning there is 5 beats per measure. its very fun to listen to. along with songs like that, he does also folkier stuff, with just him and his banjo or an acoustic, with some lovely harmonies. he has done much more then just the states projects, but this is what he is known for most. he is one creative little individual. i saw him play live...from outside the venue, but it was still a good experience. plus i got a free t-shirt, and you can never go wrong with a free t-shirt that says "come on, feel the illinoise"
