Hey There,

Completely superficial, but what are people doing to stay young looking?

I am considering Thermage to get a little younger looking. Has anyone gone this route? It's not suregery so that makes me feel a little better, but just wondering who's tried it and what they thought.

don't use foundation/blush/concealer, rarely use anything other than just water to wash with, try to get enough sleep each night

It's funny you advise against foundation ihmurria, because my mom has been wearing it every day since she was 20 and, because of the layer of makeup acting as a barrier against sun damage, she has amazing skin.

Sun-protection, exercise, a healthy diet, and a happy life.

hey that's cool... I was just letting the OP know what I do, and I have good skin, I rarely get breakouts or anything like that.

my skin is also quite sensitive, so foundations tend to irritate my skin :(

most of what your skin will look like in older age had to do with genetics. if your parents have good skin its likely that you will too. but staying hydrated, using sun block and NOT tanning will help. ............and then theres botox:p

The three best things you can possibly do are:

1. DO NOT SMOKE
2. STAY OUT OF THE SUN
3. DRINK WATER

Sounds good to me.

I also use a simple moisturizer. I didn''t until I was almost 40, though. Putting it on while your face is still damp after washing keep moisture in.

I kinda doubt the foundation she wore in the 70's through 80's had any chemical sunblocks in them. Instead, the layer of foundation itself was acting as a physical sunblock.

I had thermage done on my breasts when I was sick a few months ago because they went down to a b from a d (they're now a dd). As a b they abviously had some sagging going on and the pulses from thermage helped a lot. i would definitley get it on my face and neck when I need it. I used to have a constant worried look on my face so I got botox a couple years ago and it helped a lot and even though the results are suppossed to be temporarary mine were pretty permanent.
Collagen injections are wonderful too but invasive (surgical in my case) they're temporary though. I had my lips done at 18 and the effects are completley gone. I've heard they work wonders for wrinkles as well.
As far as everyday things...I drink lots of water, eat a diet really high in fruit (like 50 percent fruit) and wear sunscreen on my face and hands. I also get micro-derabrasion every three months. I've been doing all of these things since I was 16 and i am 24 and in the face look like I am about 18 or 19. Also genes play a really big factor in it too though.

preventative is a lot cheaper...it's easier to stay young rather than recapture it.

it's pulses that stimulate collagen prodction...tighten and firm things up

Hey There Lynsey and all,

Thanks for your thoughts. I wish I had bothered to take such good care of my skin when I was in my teens and twenties. We'll probably see a lot more of that with younger people. Smart move.

I hope your illness is now over and you are fully recovered. I am going to take your advice and get a Thermage treatment. I'll let you know how it goes. How long did it take you to recover?

Thanks!

Botox recovery is a day ...I have an appoitment tommorow...I'm just gonna get a little botox in my forhead, microderabrasion (I break out around my period so I need them every couple months) and lowlights in my hair...I have the paper coming out on tuesday and am getting headshots in the next couple of weeks for an agency who just hired me as a speaker so I wanna look good. I usually don't go to all this trouble hah d:

Thaermage...In and out...no pain at all non-invasive the treatment even feels invigorating.

Also I started taking gabba recently, which stimulates HGH and is suppossed to be the key to youth

I haven't tried it yet but I'm going to! One of the women who works at the spa I go to has had it done and looks great. While I obviously haven't asked, I'd put her in her early 40s. She's an attractive lady to begin with but I really did notice an overall improvement in the tautness of her skin and, bless her, she was kind enough to tell me the truth when I asked her what products she used. I guess it's probably been about eight or nine months now and the effects seem to be lasting. It's totally natural looking too! If she's the poster girl I am all for it.

Sleep a lot, at least 8 hours, and never stay up till all hours. Sleeping is the only way our organism and cells repair themselves. And no leave nothing and no one to keep you awake.
