I have a few plants that are almost 6 weeks old. It already has 3 alternating sets of massive Sugar leaves and nice clone growth in between and under. These large leaves are blocking lots of light from getting to these lower leaves. I have a 400 Metal Halide overhead and am installing hanging 4' flo's on the sides for extra light. My question is: Can I safely prune some of these sugar leaves off the plant to allow more light in w/o hurting the plant at this young stage of vegatation ? Should I remove them in opposing "sets" ? Upper ones or lower ones ? Any help would be much appreciated :)....V

In my limited experience, and from what I've garnered while lurking in other (alas now defunct) forums, leave the fan leaves on. Tuck them out of the way if you need to but they produce the sugars & crap that help the plant grow. Later on, during flowering, if you're getting bud site blockage, snip.
But then what the f*ck do I know? I'm still trying to get a handle on scrog timing.

    OO is right on.

Sun (fan) leaves store energy & nutrients during veg for use when the plant is flowering.
Removing them means a lower yield of lesser potency.
