Hi everyone, Just been tidying up my garden burning some of the old dead bushes, and im curious if it would be good or bad to dig all the ashes into my new vegetable patch? Going to plant some seedlings off really soon i think, might wait till after April fools day though ! Cant wait for the summer, should be one small step closer to being self sufficient, will try and post a pic when its a bit greener and less muddy Peace, R.
It depends on the soil ph where you are. Ashes raise the alkalinity of the soil. if you have acid soil, ashes would be excellent. If your soil is on the alkaline side, better not. Ashes provide the same nuetralizing qualities as lime...one pound of ash is equal to one pound of lime.
