Especially after you've had 2 kids and are not 22 and a size 6 anymore. Dang it, why can't I just find something that doesn't give that 'muffin' effect. All the good vintage jeans are long gone these days. Good thing I have lots of skirt and dresses.

I was about to say... "no way, low rise jeans rule!" But then I read your post. realized I'm 20, size 1 and have never had kid.

I must say though, high waisted pants are pretty demonic looking on some women.
    They should be avoided.

    Hell, pants should be avoided.
Skirts are so much more fun.

I'm under 20, a size 4, and don't have any kids, and I agree. I can't stand when people wear them, and then bend over and moon everyone.

yea the women's section has a lot of regular style comfort type jeans. ...i hate it when i realize that i actually need to find my way out of the juniors' section and into the womens'.

i feel the same type of pain... i need a shirt for work that is cut for a female's body but long enough to stay tucked into pants. soooo fucking hard. i've been putting off that trip for a long time.

I sooo know what you mean. I tend to shop the junior's section, but with jeans I have to make my way to the misses department because there's no way those tiny straight up and down no room for curves jeans are going to fit my mommy hips. ;)

oh loardy do i know how you feel...i may be 19, but i'm now a size 12-14 (depends on the brand of clothes i'm wearing). When I got pregnant, I was about 135 lbs and a size 10 or so (still bigger, but managable). Then I got up to 200 lbs by month 9....ouch! so yeah, now I'm stuck at 170  ....but my dd is only 6 months old....even with exercizing it should take me 2 years to get back to what I was before...blah
I've managed to find some somewhat decent size 13 jeans...still in the juniors/teens section amazingly enough and can get them pulled up high enough to cover the "mushroom area" of the mommy tummy. Sadily, they usually slip down, letting my big ol' flabby stomach hanging out, showing a nasty crack (thank god for long shirts) and give me that lovely saggy crotch effect!
all i can say is sewing your own clothes can make you feel 100X better! No sizes or change rooms, just what I like!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gotta say I definately agree with you there. High waisted pants are just as bad. Just say 'No' to camel toe.

I think 2-3 inches below the belly button is perfect (at least for me). So I guess these are considered low-rise. Mainly it's the super or ultra low-rise that disturbs me. I'm not overweight and have always been on the thin side and even when I was even thinner (wearing sizes 4-6) I still hated the ultra low-rise pants. I can honestly say that I think they look horrid on everyone (including skinny people). It's so tacky to see someones undies sticking out of their pants.

Oh I totally agree...high waisted pants do not grace my wardrobe. Actually, not too many pants grace my wardrobe, I wear a lot of long skirts! ;) But anyway, the 2-3 inches below the belly button are where it's at. At least, for my body frame. Those ultra-low ones just look like crap on me.

Ditto! I LOVE my skirts and live in them! But I like to have a few pairs of pants for when the mood strikes to wear them. They've gotta be ultra-comfy though and feeling like I need to constantly pull my pants up and then realizing I can't because they're made like that is sooooo uncomfy to me! I end up in yoga pants alot with a skirt on top. I just need to get back into my old jeans that are sitting patiently in my closet waiting for me to fit into them again. Dang winter weight!

That's a really good idea. Makes me wonder why I've been freezing my butt off wearing my skirts when I could have teamed them up with some yoga pants and stayed warmer!

    lowrise are pretty awful
    but so are high rise

midrise is the way to go. an inch or two below the bellybutton is usually the most flattering for most women, regardless of shape or size.

the problem is finding them. You have to shop at non-trendy places, stores that don't cater to teenaged girls. Places like Sears, Zellers, etc. as opposed to Bluenotes or Garage clothing.

i think the high waisted should be avoided also.

but reguardless if your pants waistline is acting as a bra or not, you should always opt for bootcut or flared jeans. they work wonders on curves, whether you love em or hate em.

I do so agree...I hate low rise pants...I don't have the figure for them, I'm too old for them (I feel), and when I was wearing them in high school (when they were called hip huggers), I still looked terrible in them.

High rise just plain look funny IMO... :H

So, hail to midrise pants, or in my case mens' Levis 550's... :)

Editing here...Cassie, I just read the article you posted on the demise of low rise jeans...'bout damn time!!! ;) Thanks for the link...

the one good thing about low rise jeans is that I can still wear them at 4 months prego... they come below my bulging belly. My other jeans no longer fit... so its my low risers and my maternity pants.
