hey, i just got a hold of live/dead and it's so awsome, but i was wondering what other live albums would be worth buying. my first idea was to get the 3 disk set of their fillmore west 1969 performance, and that's probably what i'll be getting if there isn't better stuff you might have to propose. o yeah, i'd love for it to have Dark Star--->St. Stephen--->The Eleven at least dark star thanks for any help
Well, if something is better is a question of taste... But in my mind the EUROPE 72 (a triple live album) is one of the best albums by the GD ever. With a wonderful version of CHINA CAT SUNFLOWER/I KNOW YOU RIDER, a good rocking SUGAR MAGNOLIA and a great version of HE'S GONE. Another one of my favourites is ANTHEM OF THE SUN. The very first album (as I am informed) combining live and studio takes and with fade overs between songs (in a "cinematic" way). Listen to John Grisman's charming mandoline in RIPPLE on AMERICAN BEAUTY! Saying PEACE from Ol' Germany Rozi
get "ladies and gentlemen: the grateful dead" thats a great one.. IMO the concert is the best one the dead did before 72
find 7,16,1966 live in san fran, it dont have dark star, but its an old one, very very good, lots of organ in it. pigpen rules
i downloaded a a GD concert from july 66 and it's souding pretty cool, when is ladies and gentlemen: the grateful dead from?
My favorite dead of all time is Fillmore West 2-28-69!! both sets!! plus like someone else said though it's not live you owe it to yourself to check out american beauty and anthem of the sun
