Jethro Tull is an amazing band. Benifit is one of my favorite cd's. Jethro tull was way ahead of their time.
i heard some stuff and i like what ive heard so far. i was going to get an album the other day but i didnt know which one, any sugestions?
jethro tull kicks ass i saw them when they were in chicago a few months ago im a hardcore jt fan, my favorite song is King Henry's Madrigal which was only released on the remastered version of storm watch. that and probably thick as a brick (the full version, not the crappy edited one)
yeah, the edited one is not worth bothering with. it has to be the full version. my mam got me into tull when i was little, and its been borderline obsession ever since. i have stand up on at the minute, which i haven't listened to in a while, i forgot what an incredibly album it is. not long know before i see tull live again, i am too excited!
I love Tull, especially Aqualung My dad's taking me to see them in March, which should be fun! Till then, I shall play the vinyl I have of them live constantly.
i missed out on them live! my friend got me into them but i still don't know that much stuff of theirs. any suggestions? oh and also, lately i've been looking for another band to get into that can match up to zeppelin as far as versatility goes. Led Zeppelin, in my book, were THE masters at always keeping their material fresh and always playing unique music and never watering anything down. does Tull do this too? do they play a lot of different types of genres? if not, then what other bands out there, present or past, have that total versatility? i just want to find another kick ass versatile/experimental/improvisational/masterpieceful/totally original/rocking out band like led zep.
Tull is one of my all-time favorite bands. I love every album they put out, except A and Under Wraps. Ewww...! So 80's! But I digress, Benefit is my current favorite album of theirs, but I just bought Stand Up and Minstrel In The Gallery today and I'll give it a listen, see what I think.
The local 'Head' radio station used to play Tull's albums prior to their offical US release (prolly UK releases) in the wee hours of the Morning. We'd stay up late partying then attempt to decipher the lyrics/ponder what Anderson was really saying. Eight track recordings of FM radio sucked back then... but it still beat our collective Memories for some unknown reason. *L* I like the early Works better...
Try adding Thick As A Brick and A Passion Play. Add some of the newer Works to remind you of how Good the early Works are...
great sound, ive always liked tull Heavy Horses is my fave album, saw them live years ago and they give a great show. Dave Pegg their bassist is a steady under-noticed rhythm guy, and I love his riffs.
Salamander was always one of my favourite tracks - the guitar work is just exquisite.'Skating Away (On the Thin Ice of A NEw Day) is one I've sung in the street quite alot aswell.I was singing 'mother goose' though once in the highlands of scotland (where Ian Anderson owns a fish farm) and two members of Black Sabbath ( not ozzy ) stopped and gave me 2 quid each - they just happened to be visiting - crazy sht
Have most of their albums, not sure if their recent stuff is any good, I like Aqualung and Stand Up. Saw them in Melbourne about 6 months ago, god Ian is looking old these days.
Ý adore "Jethro tull", and Ýan anderson is like a god for me, i have been to their concerts 3 times, they were amazing. i have been listening to them since 7 years and listened to all their albums, and my favorite is "Heavy Horses". Heavy Horses, move the land under me Behind the plough gliding --- slipping and sliding free Now you're down to the few And there's no work to do The tractor's on its way!
