I am gonna grow outside this summer and was wondering about how many plants it would take for a chopper w/infrared to see them. Thanks.

Depends on how much heat your plants give off. Infrared detects sources of heat, not plants. They use it more for indoor grows, where a source of heat wouldn't be as likely, such as fuckload of energy from the bedroom closet or whathaveyou.

While there are camera's that can identify marijuana due to it's "heat signature" (different than infa-red), they are very very expensive; most leo's don't have/can't afford them.

they dont detect light heat, like ranger said not many towns police stations have that kind of income, especially if your in a small town. I read in a high times that its the thc in the plants that give off the type of "heat" that they detect, they can really only detect it more towards harvest, obviously the closer the bud is to be harvested it has a mass amount of thc......did i word that right????

    THC doesn't give off heat.
Marijuana is one of the fastest-growing plants around. It's this fast grow rate that creates a difference in the heat index vs. surrounding vegatation.

i used to spread them out, dont put a bunch together.
i've planted hundreds of plants on a 20 acre bush lot
for years.they must be atleast 30 feet apart,
dont put them in the midle, blend them in with their suroundings.
i used to draw a map to remember were they were.
gps works very well for tracking your plants.
just remember, you have a much higher chance of getting ripped off by thieves than cops spoting them!

oh and infra red doesnt detect outdoor crops.
    it detects indoor opperations!
they used x ray and special cameras that makes ganga stand out outdoors.
but in order to work there must be a bunch together.
