The so called gentle, submissive weaker sex: currently there are 130 women on death row, there have been 2.1 million known violent offenses in united states that were commited by females... emphasis on the "known", that means there are many unknown as well. Some women, like Velma barfield get a way with it for years.

Ofcourse, this does not mean that we don't account for the 80% of violent crimes being commited by men, but when you really look at the numbers, it is ridiculous, you cannot say that women cannot commit violent crimes or are some how "gentler" than men and you cannot say that men have a propensity to dominate or be violent. You can however say that there are some people , who are so messed up that to get what they want, they will dominate/take advantage/kill/destroy others regardless of their gender.

 

Thats pretty easy, you just sit there and there it comes. but inventing something is pretty had.

I skimmed a couple of pages, skipped over some more and may be repeating a post.

I do not know what nature intended regarding the superiority of men over women or the converse. I don't care what was intended or if men or women are superior.

I will deal with a person as fairly and honorably as I can. I will note whether that person is a man or a woman. And I treat men differently than women.

But I don't see the value in dividing people into groups and then fussing over which group is superior to the other.

Who wanted us to judge people by "the content of their character"? Does a group have a "chartacter" by which content we can judge the members of that group?

Let me add this scenario, you are with your family in a cave when you hear a lion roar just outside. Do you care if the person with the long sharp stick is a man or a woman? I don't, I'm just glad they thought to sharpen the stick.

 

As a karate student, I learned something important...probably the most important thing I've learned in my life, so far:

Physical strength is unimportant. Mind power is everything.

YES, society MIGHT look at women as "weaker" simply because most of us AREN'T physically stronger [though a lot of women ARE extremely physically strong], but fuck society.

It is up to each individual to make a mark for him or herself. If you don't want anyone to look at you as a weak individual....take action!

That does NOT mean you have to go out and take a weight lifting class....it means, why don't you try improving your confidence.

Believe you can do anything, that the next person can....and you will be able to.

Believing that you have barriers.... ultimately sets up a barrier for you. If you think you can't do something, then you're right, you can't...because you're not believing that you CAN. No matter how cliche that is.

I think taking a martial arts class, was the best thing I could have ever done for myself. I have a heightened sense of knowing I can take care of myself.

In martial arts I haven learned that, although I'm a 120 pound girl, I can easy defend myself against a 300 pound guy with muscles as big as my waist.... all because of mind power. All because I believe I can.

Anyway... and more so on topic of the O.P.....
I think things like Men are from Mars Women are from Venus...are a load of crap... And that's ALL that discussion is.

Everyone keeps trying to distinguish the differences between men and women. The only differences are this:

Our anatomy
and the way that we were brought up.

The ONLY reason people "believe" men maybe "cry less" than women, is because plenty of people were brought up to think that. And because of that, some men, might hold back their tears, as to not be made fun of. The only reason people believe women are more self-critical and vain, is because we are pressured to be that way from the time we are little.... and because of the media.

If there were no influence such as that, can you imagine how alike, we would really be?

That's just what I think.

And to the O.P. there are women rapists as well, don't forget that. People laugh at that, but they shouldn't. That, right there, is another example of the ignorance people have to the REALITY of how equal men and women really are. Men and women are equally capable of becoming sensitive, caring beings.....or equally capable of turning out to be rapists and murderers.

Maybe women being raped is such an issue, only because more women REPORT being raped, than men do. Or maybe more women really are, but that does NOT mean that it doesn't happen, reverse either.

Both sexes have to struggle equally, but in different ways. And, I wish more people could understand that. While women have to fight to be paid equally in their careers, men have to deal with the constant pressure to BE so "tough", and if, god forbid, a man cries in public, he has to worry about other males making fun of him...and maybe even some bitchy females.

It is all in the eye of the beholder, I believe.

Some women feel that men are still superior, and some do not. I believe it is all in the individual.
