I've had too many people ask me and read too many posts on here asking what a swap box is, so here's the gritty: A swap box is just what it sounds like: a box filled with things to swap. Someone will start a swap box by collecting people's addresses. The addresses are then put in the box with items - usually crafty in nature, although some boxes have a theme like Garden Stuff or Pagany Stuff or whatever. The box gets mailed aroud to the addresses on the list; each person takes what they want from the box, fill the same box up with new things, and pass it on to the next person. The last person mails it back to the person of origin, who in theory will get a box full of new stuff in exchage for what they originally sent out. Postage costs not only vary as to whether you send it within or outside of your country, but also the size of the box and the weight, so keep the weight especially in mind when refilling it.
I agree jessica....I see this question asked too many times....and if the post isn't responded to it just cycles away into the bins of back posts....then it will be asked again.....you have a vote on my part for making this a sticky....since we see this question resurface regularly.
I'm hoping that it does get read - I think it should be a sticky too... not that I want to toot my horn in any way because I wrote it... I'm just tired of being asked what a swap box is. I don't mind telling people, but I must've repeated this at least 20 times...
The idea of a swap box is amazing and I like the idea. And I also agree that this should become sticky!
doesn't seem to get 'stuck' yet... so how much of a cool narky moderator do I have to be to get some important things stickied? or is there a knack that I don't know yet?
I'm adding my own little comment so this might stay bumped up for stickification. I agree one hundred percent, stickify this! lol
what's a sticky? This swap box idea sounds like a lot of fun. I would imagine a lot of people do this if something like this gets posted, is it something that people normally do here?
