Discuss! I really love the new dawn of the dead, and I love anything with Tom Savini, what are your thoughts?
Night of the Living Dead the original. I think the black and white made the zombies more realistic. Also the zombies in "Night" walked around moaning like they were in hell--nice touch. Some of the recent zombie movies make the creatures too much like wild animals, like they have rabies or something. I think the "lost souls" aspect of the Night of the Living Dead zombies made them scarier, gave them a more supernatural quality--like they were threatening more than just your body. I liked the new Dawn of the Dead, just don't think it's in the same league. I bet I've seen NOTLD 20 times or more and it still gets my heart pumping.
the original dawn of the dead. if you liked savini you should hunt down children of the dead. tom directed it and it will disappoint you.
I've soooo already seen it. Tom savini, while not too good of an "actor", is just bad ass anyways. Did you see how long that damn scene with the zombies in the field was?? In the beginning, it was like 15 minutes! What a bad-ass way to start off a movie. But then he dies, so, it sucks. And whats REALLY amazing, tom plays a construction worker extra later on in the film/. See if you can spot him!
haha yeah the action sequences in that movie was pretty cheesily cool. i remember him doing some crazy flip or somersault and killing some dude and i guess that scene in particular makes it somewhat worth while.
Man do I love zombies. My buddy and I are making a movie for Acting 12 where we both just kill zombies. It's going to kick ass.
Cool thread idea! I'm sure that there are a LOT of zombie movies I haven't seen yet. The reason being, I never was a big fan of them because they bored me: "ooooh, a bunch of zombies that move at 1/8 normal speed -- how *yawn* terrifying..." But nowadays that idea has been done away with, in favor of the "28-days-later" zombie (or Dawn of the Dead remake zombie) that can haul ass -- THAT is terrifying! Technically, I guess, 28 Days Later didn't feature "zombies" since the creatures were just infected humans -- they hadn't really died. I guess I really like both the Night of the Living Dead movies, being a purist for originals. I even like the remake more than the b&w original, mostly because of how the redhead chick toughened up. I really like the photo montage they set to music at the very end. That was an excellent touch. My favorite parts of the b&w original were the zombies eating body parts closeups, and the news reports. ("Officials are quoted as explaining, that since the brain of a ghoul has been activated by the radiation, the plan is: kill the brain, and you kill the ghoul...") That was genius! Blue skies, -Jeffrey
im a fan of all the Itailian low bugdet zombie filmsfav being Nightmare city (borderline zombies) tho no one else seems to like it. and also City of the living dead. and Zombie 90 has some very fun moments mm and ya cant forget the joys of Return of the living dead mmm fun fun fun 28 days later i hated seems to be a complete rip of the creatures from demons just all shiny and pretty looking no zombies at all.
anyone seen shaun of the dead? that was pure class. dylan moran's zombie impression is hilarious. the zombies in that are actually pretty good. i think the evil dead has to be my fave zombie film. it's funny but really sickening. that's a good point. zombies should be the least scary movie monsters, cos there's an obvious way to kill them and you could just powerwalk away from the buggers. still, if someone asked me whether they should create an army of zombies to destroy the human race i'd have to say no.
ooh zombies kick ass indeed but, hard to pick good zombie movie though, i guess id have to go with army of darkness from the evil dead series (yeah i know its a spoof series but still, the zombie action is quite awsome) but, the remake of The Mummy with Brendian Fraiser was also awsome but those were mummies and i dont know they would be considered zombies.
Am I the only one here who actually loved Resident Evil? That movie kicked ass. I can't wait for the sequel, its coming out soon...
Yeah, I liked Res Evil a lot, but I'm expecting the next one to be ten times better. (When are they going to give us more than that stupid teaser clip?!?!?!) Bruce Campbell is amazing, he doesn't have to fight zombies to be considered a zombie killer. Ok, I loved 28 days later a lot, except that I don't know they they technically classify as zombies. Zombies don't starve at all for some reason, but these ones did...weird. The orig night of the liv dead is supposedly awesome (I haven't seen it for a while) and the black guy that's in it is apparently the most bad-ass black guy ever, even compared to Ving Rhaymes or whatever. Fuck, I'm having a zombie movie night tonight! Sweet...
the resident evil movie was ok, but it didn't really do the game justice at all (if you've played it) especially since they've rereleased it on gamecube with enhanced graphics that are so beatiful its like you playing the movie, but personally i think the game is much better, very suspensful and mysterious. The game house of the dead is awsome too but once again the movie sucked, it was totally pointless, the game has a great plot to it but the movie toally destroyed it.
i liked res evil but i don't like michelle rodrigez. thank god she died in the first. i can't stand her butch roles
Resident Evil was awsome cause you almost saw Milla Jovovich's cuchie! My fave zombie movie would have to be Army of Darkness
yes absolutly! oh man they just started releasing the army of darkness 6" figures, i need to pick some up they're totally awsome heres a pic
Zombie, Children shouldn't play with dead things, the dead trilogy, NOTLD (90), DOTD (04), Return of the Living Dead, Return of the Living Dead 2, all really really good movies. But if you want some good zombie shit, you go to "Dawn of the dead" 78. That is a film that is not only very scary but is also very intelligent and at times funny shit.
