    Elizabeth Fraser (Cocteau Twins)
    Beth Gibbons (Portishead)
    Dorothy Moskovitz (United States Of America)
    Martina Topley Bird
    Beyonce Knowles
    Linda Perhacs
    Margaret Morgan (These Trails)
    Hope Sandoval (Mazzy Star)
    Ella Fitzgerald
    Minnie Ripperton
    Jane Birkin

    probably missed loads out but they'll do for starters

    Right now, I'd have to say Hope Sandoval of Mazzy Star would be my favorite. There are other female musicians out there who I listen too, And I might like more of their songs (Mazzy Star is just too slow and depressing sometimes) but overall I LOVE the way she sings.

    Ani Difranco and Tori Amos are by far my favorite. I really dig ani's slam poem/song self evident. yall should check it out

    Out of that list I would say Mazzy Star, Cocteau Twins, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday



    I like Chan Marshall's voice in Cat Power but she is such a horrible performer that I have to reconsider.

    Stereolab is good too

    The singer didn't die, it was the other woman....and yea, that was horrible


    I like Nico's voice too

    Yeah, I wasn't sure which one it was. But it was definitely sad. People that belong to awesome bands should be allowed to die! :p

    It will always be Aretha Franklin for me... Her voice in her prime was untouchable in my mind.. :)
