Hello people ! Im a big cannabis fan like all you out there and just took a step forward in home growing. i started out building this 80cm*80cm*170cm rectangular 'furniture'. i thought of putting a 400w sodium lamp in it, but changed over to 18w grolux neon (gonna get some more these coming days). still have to paint the inside white and figure out some form of ventilation system (if absolutely needed, from when in the growing process should it be used?). for the pots i took 4 15cm*15cm pots, hoping it'd be big enough. the seeds are still wrapped and waiting because im not sure of how to go at it. should i simply plant them or put them in wet cotton wool ? i've bought a large bag of special seedling loam, any good? and for fertilizers i bought a bag of 8%-8%-8% NPK common fertilizer? these last two any good or should i go get some from the growshop? and whats up with pruning, fimming and topping ?? thnx a lot ! you will be fine for the veg stage. But when you want to flower, you will need better lighting, and bigger pots to start. Sodium bulbs and neons dont do the trick for flower. You need a shit ton just to get them going good in veg. ferts are easy. Give your first fertilizer feeding about 2-3 maybe even 4 weeks from sprout. Just give them water until then, the seed has all the nutrients it needs inside the shell for the first few weeks. But you are going to need some different ferts because .08 .08 .08 wont do much. You need (for veg) something with higher N than anything else. N is the key in veg. Something like 5-1-1 (alaskan fish fert) works well. Or you could get something that is like 10-5-5 or 8-4-1. Just get some N in there. For flower its the opposite, low N and high K. So 1-1-5 or 10-20-20. or 10-15-20. The higher the numbers, generally the less dosage they need and also the easier it is to overdose them. I always reccommend the fox farms lineup of nutes as they have worked for me. You can get a bottle of big bloom (for flower) and some grow big(for veg) and you are set. P is good for stems so you want a little of that for flower. But P is also useful for the very first feeding you give. (if you have a high P fert for flower, it is also good for starting weak seedlings...just give them a tiny tiny bit of that to help develop strong stems.) Good luck man. p.s. it took me about 5 months and a dozen seeds to get off on the right foot (cuz im a dumbass lol) but if i can do it then anyone can. Just stay safe, and an important tip is to keep your p.h. levels correct. Before you water your plants, test the ph of the water (go to petco and look in the aquarium section for ph stuff) and make sure its about 6.6-7.1 This was my problem from the start.
