whenever I thinkg of comunes I think of thse shacks and the fields and etc...I never really though a house filled with people can be seen aS A commune aswell. so many things can be communes...ot just one diffined place or set of ideals. a tribe of natives is a commune just as much as a settlement of quakers is a comm.une
a commune is exactly that ,communal living ..can be shacks and can be an apartment ........it's that everybody shares and looks out for one another ......some communes that used to be in this area sometimes was just a house rented out by 9 or 10 people ......sometimes it was a big farm with 300 people on it ..........there are no set boundries set in stone on the definition
Indeed, I prefer the romantic visual imagery of bearfoot peasants in rags, furs and covered in dirt living in backward dwellings though. Well, until it rained and I wanted to use the Internet anyway.
