when you trip over your child because you didn't pay attention? I saw a woman in the store the other day, who was talking to someone else, not paying attention to her child. The kid couldn't have been more than 3 or 4 years old, walking around on the floor. The woman took a step, and half steped on half trip over the child, then got mad at the kid for being in her way! She yelled at her for crying, and told her that she should have been paying attention. Bad parenting. I've seen this a lot, people not paying attention and steping on thier children or pets, and getting mad at them instead of comforting them and apologizing for the pain they inflicted. Why can't people ever admit that something is their fault?
A couple of years ago I was in a grocery store, and this little, about 6-8 month old baby who was poorly fastened into the shopping cart seat (you know, the one he was too small for to begin with) took a nose dive for the oranges. Mom was a good 15 feet away paying attention to something else. I literally caught the kid in midair, and when the mom turned around I was basically accused of kidnapping. Shoddy parenting really pisses me off!
awww, that's so mean. my mother does that to her dog all the time, poor guy. Yesterday he threw up all over the floor (he throws up alomst every day) and I accidentially walked in it and smeared it all over the floor without realizing it, and she had a fit. She pushed the dog away and started going on about putting him down because she's so sick of it. the only time that I get annoyed with him being in the way is when I've asked him to move while I'm carrying my daughter (he does understand that) and he stays in the same place. i've seen lots of partents do that before. The poor kid isn't a mind reader.
Whenever I do that I feel so bad because its most likely ME not paying attention...What I do is scoop them up and apologize
i have to confess, when frazzled, i HAVE gotten mad. but kai's just a 3 year old, it's not her fault. thankfully i'm not much of a yeller. though she's developed this thing, lately, where she'll deliberately trip me because she thinks it's funny. a little bad behavior we're gonna have to work on. probably due to all the attention the baby gets now.
