.... do the rest of us a favor and SEND IT OUT! Many people have signed up for many swap boxes and are counting on the box to get circulated. I've sent out so many swap boxes and even tho the list was short, I never got them back at the end. It isn't fair when folks keep them for a month or two. People do move and have other things to do, and are counting on the swap to get to them as soon as possible. Whenever I get a swap box, I always have my swapping materials ready, and the box gets sent out again ALWAYS within a week on my part, often within 2 days. It's just a courtesy on my part. Please, don't take it personally, just as an observance. There are those of us who don't get the use of swap boxes because of the select few who 'forget'.
Yeah I'm done with swap boxes here on this forum. I had all my stuff ready for the one Fleassy did, but it never came. Frankly I think if there are more swaps on here they need to be much better organized and if people flake out there needs to be a hall of shame and those people should not be allowed to join another swap for a while. I've organized swaps before and they always turn out great because I keep tabs on eerything!
my swaps also go well, I think it's because I make tight rules. sometimes strikt rules are actually useful
hipmoon. mine was organised very well. it got lost in the post though, and thats something which cant be helped. no need to get angry towards it. I spent a long time working out the route for it so no one had to spend too much and all sortys. I even wrote a seperate letter to each member in the box giving out the next adrress... like a treasure hunt or something. Its a shame it got lost but dont give up on it.
Swap boxes just seem like more trouble than they are worth. Fleassy's seemed very organized with it's own thread and all, but even that fell through. You can't help the post though.
Fleasy...no one is angry. Remember your reading something posted on the internet. You can't read emotion. I think you had it organized as well as it could be without guidlines. It's not your fault it got lost or never made it. I'm just done with swaps, because they never seem to work out. I've signed up for three of them here and have yet to ever get anything.
Kastenfrosch my swaps also go well, I think it's because I make tight rules. sometimes strikt rules are actually useful I have signed up for 2 seperate swap boxes...but has been quite awhile ago...before the big crash....but I never received a box once...I ain't naming names or pointing fingers....cuz there are things that do happen.....but common curtosity should be the fore runner of a swap box .....Kastenfrosch's swaps seem to be the ones where I have seen no complaints...and everybody has received something for their efforts. cerridwen if you are interested in giving another a go...feel free to contact me...I would like to be a part of one that was successful....there is really no reason for one not to work.....if only people would be true to their committment......count me in ....and I will do what I can to help ya out...
Thanks, fylthevoyd, but I think for a while I'm done organizing any. As tightly as I try to keep rules on my swap boxes, I've been burned too many times with them. I do hope that the one I have out now does come back to me, but after this it'll be a while before I start another, although I'll gladly sign up for someone else's. I also wanted to place a bit of an apology. I had received a PM from one of the people who's signed up for my swap box and - although shall remain anonymous - has read this thread and was quite upset with my posting it. Because of personal things in her life, she's been a bit delayed in sending out the box. Now, that's absolutely fine - I understand that we all have other more important things in our life than swap boxes and hipforums and such. I didn't mean this as a knock against anyone specifically. I just wanted to vent this as a notice to everyone who ever signs up for a swap box about just this one detail...
i like the swaps like kastenfrosch does, where she gets all the names and gives you partners that way its not relying on one box traveling the whole country.
And if actually somebody is not sending his/her thing, then just one doesn't get something, and not the rest of the chain. And if just one or two at the max don't get anything, we can always get together and make something up for one or two people.
cerridwen; I was just validating what you were saying....I am not disguntled over the out come of swap boxes....I was just stressing the point of respect.....if a person is going to sign up for a swap box....at least have the respect to follow through. Kastenfrosch; from what I have seen you do have the most organized swaps going...and a very good success record...from what I have seen and heard. It all comes down to a simple yes or no.....don't sign up if you aren't going to follow through....cuz if there are multiple people involved....one break in the chain...stops the process for all...and builds an air of distrust.
fylthevoyd - the disgruntled person that I was referring to wasn't you, so no worries. I've learned lessons to keep my swap list short to no more than 5 people per box, but even now with that done on several boxes, I've spent quite a good chunk of change on boxes being sent out without any finding their way back to me, sadly. I'm hoping the one I have circulating now does come back, I have good faith in the few who've signed up for it. Hopefully the swap box I've got out now will break my bad luck with swaps as a whole.
