    Hiya
We were asked as part of a talking and listening exercise to give a speech on our "heros". This made me think, who do we really consider a hero? Others did war veterans and suchlike, but i personally don;t see anything heroic about war and don't think it should be glorified the way it is.
I wrote a speech on Jimi Hendrix, becuase of the way his music affected people, and on a personal level the way his music made me feel. But a "hero"? I don't know.

Who would you guys consider a "hero"?

Like Spiderman's grandmother said, "I believe theres a hero inside of all of us." [IMG]

Seriously, there are a lot of people I consider heroic, bio-medical researchers, agricultural scientists, firemen, most soldiers, a few police, some doctors.

Even if you don't like the war, US soldiers do more humaitarian missions then any other force on earth.

Human Rights Lawyers, who after attending law school where they could make millions in corprate law, often work for survival money in situations where they can be kidnapped by governments and militias.

Jet Li, an amazing martial artist, and great filmaker. Has done a lot for MA in the states, and risked his life to pull a kid out of the way of the Tsunami in some hotel he was staynig at, spraining his ankle.

And foremost Norman Borlaug, an American Agronomist who devoted his life to spurring a revolution in Agriculture which saved the lives of literally Billions of people.

Many men in the military either start out or end up as people who want to kill. I can't classify them (in general) as heroes. I would say Ghandi, MLK & the peaceful civil right movement, Jesus, and Hitler.

That was a joke! Just a joke! Don't take that seriously! You can take Jesus off that list.

Oh god! Just a joke! I'm kidding! Put Jesus back on, he was an ok guy! Really, I have no problem with Jesus.

A hero...hmm...probably a friend of mine. He's really a great person and he's helped me a lot..so that was heroic of him I suppose. Ghandi. The Little Mermaid? HAH I dunno. Hero's is a hard thing to classify...I'd rather just say people that inspire, or that I respect.

    I don't really have a hero.
I think a hero is someone who either saves someone or something. Whether it's from death or another life changing thing.
