Does anybody here crochet? I just learned how to make headbands and a lot of guys are buying them. I don't even try, I just wear them to school and sooner or later someone will buy them for like 2-5 bucks. I'm trying to learn how to make beanies with flaps and tassles and stuff... My friends and I have already made plans to travel Europe, and maybe we could make some extra money this way. We're also planning on doing acoustic street performances and things like that too.
it's a bit tough to explain, but you basically start at the top with one large loop and crochet in a circle, putting two stitches in each one to increase (do this maybe every other round row completed) until it's as big around as you want the hat to be. if you know anything about knitting, it's the same as knitting in the round. for the flaps, you can either crochet half- circles separately and then stitch them on, or crochet them on at the end, picking up the stitches at the edge of the hat for the end of each row. it's really tough to try to explain this without being able to actually show you...not sure if this is going to be much help or not. you could also crochet two squares and then stitch them together if you didn't mind a square- shaped hat.
good luck with ur trip I love crochet too, it's so quick... altho I must admit I like the look of knit better....
I just started to crochet a few days ago! I've only gone so far as making a simple chain. Its fun, but very difficult to learn without a visual guide (like someone showing you how to do it).
